I attended the opening of the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, held in connection with the World Food Prize, alongside Ghana’s Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America, H.E. Victor Smith, and my chief of staff, Hon. Alex Segbefia.
The event brings together global leaders and experts to deliberate on critical issues of food security, because we recognize that global food security is a cornerstone of global peace. In an increasingly complex and fast-changing world, the discussions remind us that achieving food security is central to sustainable development and stability.
Hon. Eric Opoku participated in the panel titled “From Policy to Progress: A Diplomatic Legacy," where he restated Ghana’s commitment to self-reliance in food production.
Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, agriculture remains the pivot of Ghana’s economic transformation. Flagship initiatives such as the Feed Ghana Program and the 24-Hour Economy Policy are designed to stimulate productivity, enhance value addition, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
The Government of Ghana is fully committed to creating an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive in agriculture. This includes fostering a symbiotic relationship between agricultural production and agro-processing, ensuring that value chains generate jobs and drive inclusive economic growth.
Additionally, Ghana's doors are open to strategic and equitable partnerships in key areas such as soil science, post-harvest loss reduction, and the processing of key export crops such as cocoa, shea nuts, and cashew. Ghana aims to add value, improve farmers’ incomes, and secure long-term sustainability in the agricultural sector.
The discussions at the Dialogue reinforced Ghana’s position as a committed partner in global food security efforts, determined to harness agriculture as a tool for economic empowerment and peace-building.
I completely agree with my brother, Dennis Miracles Aboagye. Scapegoating and politicising are not effective ways to combat a social cancer like Galamsey. So I ask my brother: "What has changed?"
Interestingly, those who assert they brought digitalisation and the Ghana Card to Ghana are unaware that the Ghana Card functions as a multipurpose card, capable of serving as a debit or prepaid card for the payment of goods and services.
I do not blame them, because they were not involved in the design of the Ghana card in late 2012.
The good news is that the visionary leader HE John Mahama is back to finish what he started. That is to have 1 multipurpose card for all transactions (Please watch the video attached).
They should simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the smooth ride of good governance to create a SMART Ghana.
I visited the personal photographer of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Rev. Christian Tsui Hesse (Chris Hesse). Rev. Hesse is one of Ghana’s most celebrated cinematographers and filmmakers.
I thank Rev. Chris Hesse for his extraordinary service to our nation and pray for his continued strength and good health.
I served as the Guest of Honor at the joint graduation ceremony of the Senior Command and Staff Course 46, the Master’s in Defence and International Politics, and the Master’s in Security Studies programs at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
I acknowledge the College’s reputation for excellence in providing high-level training to address both internal and external security challenges. The institution’s commitment to officers from sister African countries strengthens international relations and fosters mutual learning across cultures. The introduction of new courses to address modern security threats also reflects the College’s responsiveness to global trends.
I reaffirm the unwavering commitment of Government, under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, to support the College as it continues to deliver world-class training for national defense and security.
To the graduates: your families and communities have played an invaluable role in your journey. I urge you to serve with integrity, professionalism, and foresight. In addition, I extend best wishes to our foreign students for safe travels, and encourage all graduates to maintain the bonds of friendship and cooperation.
I served as the Guest of Honor at the joint graduation ceremony of the Senior Command and Staff Course 46, the Master’s in Defence and International Politics, and the Master’s in Security Studies programs at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
In a gesture of solidarity and statesmanship, former President John Agyekum Kufuor paid a visit to President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, at their residence to express his condolences and support during this difficult time. I joined them and other government officials to receive him and thank him for his thoughtful gesture.
All hands on deck to retain Akwatia! The Green Army will be on the grounds to ensure victory for Lawyer Bernard Bediako and the National Democratic Congress. #YouthPower
On Friday, 1st August 2025, I was sworn in as a member of the Governing Board of Ghana Digital Centres Ltd (GDCL).
I am deeply grateful to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the sector Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, for their belief in the power and potential of young people at every stage of policy formulation and national development.
My gratitude to the President and the Minister extends beyond this appointment to the journey that preceded it; particularly the opportunity to serve as Secretary to the NDC’s Manifesto Sub-Committee on ICT, Communication, Digitalisation and Innovation from 2022 to 2024. That body, which was chaired by the Honourable Sam Nartey George, played a central role in shaping the digital policy direction we are now advancing.
I wholeheartedly embrace the Minister’s charge to the board: to lead Ghana’s digital innovation and entrepreneurship agenda and to position the GDCL as a key catalyst in the country’s digital economy.
Kudi Kpekpe!
I have read the release by DStv Ghana and taken full consideration that they vindicate my earlier position that they simply do not take the Ghanaian people serious enough.
The same Group operating in Nigeria reversed price increases in Nigeria when the Nigerian authorities sued them. The Nigerian House of Representatives took the matter up and ordered a suspension of the increases. They complied.
This year, in April, at a time the Ghanaian cedi had seen a ~10% appreciation against all major currencies, inflation had dropped by over 5% and fuel prices had also dropped, DStv announced and implemented a 15% increase.
I believe in the interest of transparency, I make public the alternate proposal that DStv offered to me that I flatly rejected.
They proposed that I allow them maintain the collection of the exorbitant bouquet prices as they stand but order them not to send the revenue to their headquarters. In all honesty, that offer lacks any logic in my estimation. The essence of my action is to see Ghanaians pay a fair price for the services offered. How does this proposal solve the real issue?
For far too long, corporations have fleeced the Ghanaian people. There has been a RESET and it demands a new style of public service that is fiercely protective of the Ghanaian people. I remain empathetic to the Ghanaian staff of DStv but I believe that they should stand with the rest of us as we demand what is right for us.
I remain open to "constructive engagements" that are centred on PRICE REDUCTION. Anything else is tangential and of no consequence.
For God and Country. 🦁🇬🇭
