Yesterday was National Skilled Trades Day and I was proud to see @Ford Philanthropy and @SkillsUSA team up for the first-ever Detroit Signing Day, where they celebrated over 50 students pursuing careers in fields like automotive technology and welding.
These aren't “fallback” jobs. They are high-tech, high-precision, and high-pride careers and it's important we teach the next generation of kids that they can have a great life and a sense of purpose in the trades. We need to change the conversation parents and kids are having across the dinner table. Let’s stop treating the trades as a “Plan B” and start treating them like the backbone of our future.

Awesome experience with Ford last week! I definitely agree the people made this experience great.
Ford isn’t playing and with what I seen, they are changing the game.
Last week I got access to @Ford’s secret skunkworks factory in Long Beach, California 👀
This is where the future of Ford EVs is being built.
Led by Alan Clarke, the team is completely rethinking how vehicles are designed & manufactured.
At the center: the UEV (Universal Electric Vehicle).
First product = midsize truck (2027) 🛻
But that’s just the beginning…
This platform will underpin an entire lineup. 🚗 🚐
And honestly? The biggest takeaway wasn’t just the tech - it was the people. 💙
Perhaps Ford’s most underrated strength is building the right team with the right people.
I’ll be breaking this all down over the next few days. 📝
Things are about to change BIG time! ⚡️🔋
A few years ago, we gave a handful of people a challenging mission: reinvent how @Ford builds vehicles. This "skunkworks" team was given a space in California to work and the freedom to start from a clean sheet of paper and rethink the entire process of how vehicles have traditionally been designed. Seeing that team come together and work with engineers, designers, and supply chain and manufacturing people all side-by-side has been truly inspiring. While some in the industry are pulling back on electric vehicles, we are building a family of affordable, high-tech EVs and I can't wait for people to get to see what they've created with the Universal Electric Vehicle Platform.
That skunkworks spirit has now evolved from a small office in Irvine to the new Electric Vehicle Development Center (EVDC) in Long Beach. But what's exciting isn't the building, it's the way people are working and bringing those ideas into other parts of Ford. It's the perfect blend of startup agility and Ford’s legendary industrial muscle.
Here's an inside look at the new EVDC and the exciting work happening... https://t.co/HMxvub6s8v
@Tesla what is this about? I’m reviewing videos from my Turo guest that kept smoking at every stop and had the windows down while on the highway.
I didn’t know there was a limit.

Pretty cool how @Ford has created vehicles that have fostered friendships. Met @jacecraftmiller because of the @FordMustang Mach-E. Here we are 5 years later….. pretty awesome.
What an absolute blast on AA1979 with Khaliyf! This man went over and beyond to ensure I was comfortable. He assisted with my crutches, moved some stuff around for me and even offered an arm for me to get up. This is 100% quality customer service. @AmericanAir please give this man some recognition for being AAmazing!
