BREAKING: In response to right wing pressure to ban books across America, Illinois Secretary of State Alexi @Giannoulias is the first-in-the-nation to propose an innovative way to FIGHT BACK against such bans.

“Under the new bill, Illinois libraries would be required to either issue a statement that they will prohibit banning controversial materials and books or show they follow the ALA Library Bill of Rights, which says “materials should not be proscribed or removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.”

The best part? If they don’t comply, the libraries will NOT be eligible for state grants.

@responsiveclass @blueegg3r These are awesome suggestions and I’m sure most kids need them. Too bad our curriculum maps don’t take this into consideration. We go right into a new ELA Unit and begin a new topic in math. We are expected to keep moving right along with little time to reconnect with students.
