@BreakthroughT1D Chief Global Advocacy Officer working to accelerate breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and its complications
Historic day for the Type 1 Diabetes (#T1D) community! The @US_FDA has approved Tzield for ages 8-17 newly diagnosed with stage 3 T1D, the first ever disease modifying therapy for stage 3. @BreakthroughT1D has long supported this journey, and we’re so excited about this news! 💙
Today marks a historic milestone for the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community: the @US_FDA has approved Tzield for use in individuals ages 8–17 with stage 3 T1D. This is the first disease-modifying therapy ever approved for stage 3 T1D!
Tzield preserves beta cell function in newly diagnosed individuals, which has been shown to result in fewer hypoglycemic events, lower insulin use, reduced burden of care, and improved A1c. We'll keep working to ensure people with stage 3 T1D everywhere, not just in the U.S., have access to therapies that help them live healthier lives.
Breakthrough T1D and the T1D Fund have supported the development of this therapy for over 30 years, and we're grateful to the FDA for recognizing the urgent unmet need in T1D and expediting Tzield's approval through the accelerated approval pathway. We also thank @sanofi for their continued research and the T1D community for advocating for therapies that change the course of this disease. Read more here: https://t.co/OaU1VQV1cZ
We applaud @RepKimSchrier and @RepJohnJoyce and @SenatorShaheen and @SenatorCollins for introducing the Strengthening Collective Resources for Encouraging Education Needed (SCREEN) for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Act of 2026. The bipartisan legislation aims to increase awareness and improve early detection of T1D.
Screening and early detection of T1D can save lives, help people make important decisions about their health, and potentially change the course of this disease.
Too often, children and adults are diagnosed only after becoming critically ill. Screening for T1D can be done through a simple blood test, and ongoing monitoring can help families avoid medical emergencies and take action sooner.

See my new op-ed in @InsideSourcesDC on the "Rip & Replace" program. Everyone's worried about the Chinese spy balloon, but what about Chinese wireless network equipment? Congress rightly decided to pull it; now, it needs to fully fund the program!⤵️

Chairwoman @cathymcmorris is exactly right. The rip & replace funding shortfall must be addressed ASAP. This is a bipartisan, national security, and consumer issue, and @ccamobile continues to urge full funding now. @HouseCommerce

@HaterAls @Mayuri_Saxena It’s an outrage that more is not being done! I lost my high school best friend last year. She did everything she could to survive. How can it possibly be that treatments showing promise aren’t approved for all?? I’ll help however I can!
@Mayuri_Saxena I volunteered to help pack up the name flags at the @iamalsorg DC event. It was an honor to hold your name!! Your strength and creativity are truly an inspiration. Thank you for sharing!
