🚨New Paper Alert!🚨
Can players’ network-level parameters predict gaming perpetration, victimization, and their overlap? 🤔
Using data from 55,760 players over 2 months in an online multiplayer game, we found:
🎮 Larger networks = more perpetration, less victimization
🎮 Network closure = reduced involvement in both
🎮 Network brokerage = increased involvement in both
🎮 Overlap of perpetration & victimization = larger networks & less closure

Do we know whether institutions evolve due to selective forces (competition, learning) or drifts (blind imitation, path dependency)? My paper with @enfascination@martin_hilbert quantifies the selective&stochastic forces in online community institutions https://t.co/ibggakNMXf
Focusing on rule changes among 20K Minecraft Communities, we measure selective, stochastic, and complementary drivers of institutional evolution through the Price equation and the bet-hedging model.
