It isn’t ever necessary to stop harm, but even if you make that argument, those cases don’t represent the vast majority of murder cases. Murder isn’t as bad because 0.1% of them are “justified”?

There is no actual justification for either crime.

But you could justify raping a rapist the same way you could justify murdering a murderer. Which is to say, “an eye for an eye.” Who would defend a rapist getting raped? Very few people I think.
