BREAKING: An oil tanker has been struck and damaged by a projectile in the US-backed southern shipping corridor of the Strait of Hormuz, per UKMTO.
This is the first oil tanker attack since the MOU was signed and follows Thursday's IRGC attacks on a Singapore-flagged cargo ship and a vessel near Dubai ports.
Laden Panama-flagged VLCC KIKU (IMO: 9329796) carrying Qatar Energy oil was struck during outbound transit of the Strait of Hormuz.
This is the second vessel struck by Iran since Thursday after the PGSA reiterated that the SoH is closed to those ships that do not have permission from Iran.
NCAGS continues to say that the southern route is the safest, but JMIC increased the risk rating to SUBSTANTIAL today after reducing the risk to MODERATE earlier in the week.
The US struck Iran last night following the attack against EVER LOVER on Thursday. In response, Iran conducted drone and missile attacks against Bahrain.
The cycle continues... anticipate US strikes at Bandar Abbas, Sirik and/or Jask tonight, additionally attacks against ships in the Syrait of Hormuz and Iranian attacks against Gulf states in the next 24hrs.

BREAKING: Iran's IRGC announces it has struck "multiple high value US Army positions in the region" in response to today's US strikes on Iranian coasts near the Strait of Hormuz, per Tasnim.
The IRGC adds that "according to Clause 5 of the Islamabad MoU, the arrangements for controlling passage and traffic in the Strait of Hormuz are under the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran," warning "if the aggression is repeated, our response will be broader than this."
Following the US attack, the Southern lane is eerily quiet. My analysis of the situation is that IRGC will implement a full closure on the Oman route. The US will have to retaliate.
This back and forth is unlikely to resolve itself. The issue for the US is now that $12 billion has already been released, and Iran got both the cargoes they need and the 40 million bbls out of the Gulf of Oman; the balance shifts against the US.
