Bitcoin is censorship-resistant money because of decentralization, etc. To make it more difficult for individual node runners to operate nodes through data bloat/high hardware requirements and thus increased costs, runs against decentralization.
Bitcoin.
Blake2b.
@M28Ray Yup. PoW change is the ultimate decentralization tool.
It would not be necessary if the big pools had read the room better, but this moment would end up coming sooner or later.

First, ain't nobody reading through all that AI bullcrap filled with em dashes.
Secondly, it's not 'orthodoxy' to want Bitcoin to stay true to the purpose of which it was originally designed for...to be MONEY.
You can call it 'reformation' or whatever other semantics bullcrap you want...but real Bitcoiners know what this is: the subversion of Bitcoin to bastardize it into the current fiat monstrocity/system.
No thanks.
@Shireh0dl A fork with an automatic solid network of the most pristine bitcoiners has no precedent so far. I don't know what the odds of success are, but I'm leaning into it very hard as there is nothing left to fight for anymore.
Claiming you can’t “fire” the miners is equivalent to saying they can act however they want without ever facing consequences. It implies they are effectively in charge of the world’s largest supposedly decentralized cryptocurrency.
Mining does not give Bitcoin its value—it simply finds the next block, which is then verified by every node. Bitcoin’s value comes from people holding the coins, those dollar-cost averaging into it, people buying and selling goods with it, and the thousands of node runners who keep the system decentralized.
Miners don’t own Bitcoin. They provide proof under rules enforced by users
This BIP-110 PoW proposal makes the fallback explicit: if miners refuse the rules users choose, the network can change the PoW and fire them
Here’s what that would actually entail https://t.co/ovMWOKh6CG
Tail emissions = inflation.
Demurrage = wealth tax.
Uncapped OP_RETURN = base-layer bloat.
We didn't opt out of the central banking cartel to let developers code fiat economics back into Bitcoin.
21 million. No exceptions.
@kretchino Good point. There is no reason to send money to an exchange rn. Even after Sept 1st the exchanges may not offer BIP110+Blake2b coins therefore they are NGMI.

The maintainer of "Bit-Block Bitcoin Client & Knots Legacy" is a liar
Please take this into consideration when deciding whether to run his software
A few days back I was really demoralized about bitcoin.
Now I’m actually super excited about the POW change. A fresh start and clean out of the people who don’t gaf about Bitcoin anyway beyond how they can abuse it/enrich themselves.
