One of our founding funders, @BainumFdn, helped us reach across the Region to empower stakeholders
who were standing up and feeding their neighbors as the pandemic started. It's humbling to be entrusted to share their resources. https://t.co/cmQdkqsRQ3
In our first year, MAFRAC granted $769,643 to 79 hunger relief organizations feeding communities across Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia thanks to donations from a variety of community foundations. #feedandbefed
Shout out to @EpiscopalHS for gifting us a ton of milk and produce to share with communities in Alexandria this morning. School is closed for the summer— and we’ll make sure none of this goes to waste. Thanks for the connect, @dcck.
@4PFoods And my oh my do WE love @4PFoods!
Thanks for pouring so much time and energy (and produce) into our mission and the stakeholder network!
#feedandbefed is really happening!
Were your ears burning Saturday? We did a happy dance as Sam backed the truck in! 100 families fed! 🤗
“...one in 10 adults with children said they did not have enough to eat. For Black and Latinx families, that number was one in five.”
We’re doing everything we can to close that gap—if you’d like to help:

“I think it’s an issue for everybody.” - @DouglasEmhoff, when asked if food insecurity will be an issue he focuses on as second gentleman https://t.co/OdUsIxcMxU.
Here are ways Emhoff, and the Biden admin can address the root causes of hunger. https://t.co/Tr98NzIvXX
It’s heartening to see the new administration immediately step into the breach — food insecurity was rampant before COVID — and its not getting better unless we do something about it. Second Gentleman is paying attention. Let’s rebuild better. https://t.co/fdzeN627uK
“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!” — Dr.Abdul Sesay.
It’s so exciting to sit and listen to Dr. Sesay as he leads the Friday afternoon stakeholder call for our team.
Hard to grab a photo—he didn’t sit still and his energy was flowing!
One of our grant recipients, @MediumRareDC, shared this photo of Brrrrrrnie supervising as they refilled a fridge with free meals. We’re proud to partner with people who’re invested in feeding their community. #feedandbefed https://t.co/UFcShUd6aM
Love seeing the work @Marycharlton8 and @AmberMarchand are doing to make sure families in their communities are fed. Want to help us help more families? Click here:

Some beeeeeeautiful produce bags arrived courtesy of @4PFoods and @MAFR_AC! Thanks to your generosity, this healthy bounty will be combined with milk, eggs, meat, and non-perishable foods to help 10 families who can’t reach a food pantry this week 🤟#projectBTG
Shout out to @CrossCommMoCo for sharing resources, again. Thanks, Ben.
It’s so great to have you in the Stakeholder network. You guys epitomize #feedandbefed
Allof this produce was “grabbed up” and will go to families in need.
Notes like this inspire us so much!
It’s proof we’re more than a micro granting org. We made ¡99 grants totaling $790,643 in 6 mo! but we also created a network of people who are excited to find new ways to feed their communities.
The need isn’t going away— neither are we!
Oh—no no no—it’s you. WE appreciate YOU. [and we stan your bride, cause she’s runnin’ circles around all of us out here.] Families like yours are an absolute inspiration. Lead from within.
Hey @AmberMarchand —people were astounded by those grocery bags. So much food—but those sweet sweet holiday cards really showed the love.
Way to share the spirit of giving.
“From our family to yours.”
Monday morning and Operation Turkey drop is still going thanks to @dcck and @Albertsons. Stored these at @ArcadiaFood’s farm all weekend and they’re headed to an apartment complex we’ve identified as having families in need. Half a ton of 🦃 in 22 seconds.
These 20 pound birds were accompanied w/ bags full of groceries collected by @BeTheGood_DC —each bag had a hand drawn holiday greeting. There’s still need all across the region— if you can help visit https://t.co/aLb7O53Bqq to donate. It takes a village to #feedandbefed.
One of the biggest accomplishments this year was building an incredible network of stakeholders with the same mission. @dcck gave us 3,060 turkeys to share with our network. That’s —
There are no words. It takes a village.
Thank you.
See you in the next round! 🥰
We believe in miracles. We’ve seen them firsthand. And in case we needed another reminder this holiday season, these boxes of turkeys just rolled into town. Thanks to @Marycharlton8 @ArcadiaFood @4PFoods@MAFR_AC, 140 turkeys are making their way to families for the holidays!
Our December grant is open 'til 31 Dec. If you're a hunger relief org, a community group, church, gym, a local school teacher --doens't matter. If you're standing in the gap feeding your community we want to help you buy locally grown food to give away. https://t.co/CafGwlfR7i
This is tremendous: they didn’t just write checks—they put in the work to see how to best share —all the while freeing up the people on the ground to keep doing great work in their communities. Accountable but not burdened.
