🇮🇱🇵🇸 Dave Smith thinks one of the hardest things to understand about the Israel-Palestine conflict is also one of the simplest.
People who feel threatened can become capable of justifying almost anything against the people they blame.
He says he can understand how an Israeli who lost family on October 7 could reach the point of wanting overwhelming retaliation.
But he can also imagine being Palestinian, watching occupation, settlements and violence affect his own family, and feeling exactly the same impulse in the opposite direction.
“Everyone does it on all sides and it’s equally disgusting.”
That became Smith’s larger explanation for why breaking the cycle is so difficult.
When he talks to Jewish friends and relatives who strongly support Israel, he says Gaza is sometimes barely part of how they understand the moment.
Instead, many see rising antisemitism through the inherited trauma of the Holocaust and fear history beginning to repeat itself.
Smith doesn’t think that excuses what happens to Palestinians.
He thinks it helps explain the psychology sustaining the conflict.
“Hurt people hurt people.”
Decades of occupation and violence can produce support for Hamas. October 7 and generations of Jewish historical trauma can produce support for Netanyahu and overwhelming Israeli force.
The tragedy is that each side’s fear can become the evidence the other side uses to justify its own.

🇺🇸 Tucker isn't buying the story behind who's running Trump transition operations
He openly questioned why billionaire Howard Lutnick was handed control over key appointments, suggesting the decision traces back to heavy influence from mega donors like Miriam Adelson.
Tucker even tied the timing straight to the Butler shooting and called out federal law enforcement for withholding critical records on who the shooter talked to before opening fire.
The call is for real transparency, even when it means looking closely at the top decisions inside the party.

🇨🇦 Anthropic's CLAUDE got a teenager stuck on a British Columbia CLIFFSIDE
The AI tool guided him to a climbing route known as the "Widowmaker.”
Seriously. It’s a highly technical climb, and the amateur wasn’t ready for it.
He had to be rescued by helicopter.
When AI tries to take you to the WIDOWMAKER…

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 The Iran war has destroyed or damaged 81 US military aircraft worth up to $3.3 billion, including an F-35 and 45 Reaper drones
Twelve F-15E fighters, seven refueling tankers, an F-35 and a $270 million E-3 spy plane... all lost or damaged in seven months, according to the Congressional Research Service.
Three of those F-15s went down to FRIENDLY FIRE over Kuwait in the war's first days.
The Reaper losses alone have shrunk the fleet to 135, way below the 189 the Air Force is supposed to keep ready.
So how long can America burn through planes faster than it can replace them?
With the war bill already at $43.6 billion, every extra month leaves the Air Force thinner for whatever crisis comes next.

🚨🇺🇸 This is not right, and this is EXACTLY what a lot of people were afraid of when the Lindsay Clancy case took relevance.
Multiple mothers are now facing murder charges after taking their own kids' lives, with investigators pointing to a disturbing obsession with Clancy’s high-profile legal defense.
In a recent case in Illinois, prosecutors reported a mother texted friends about the case right before strangling her 2-year-old toddler.
Are these women going to tell the judge that postpartum psychosis can be spread?

It’s cool and all that they’re discovering all these new creatures and all… but it’s probably best that we don’t start messing with them.
I’m more concerned they'll mess with us if we don’t leave them alone!

🇦🇷 Messi gave a final speech at the Monumental Stadium:
"In the last World Cup we were so close. We gave it our all.
The match against England was a really exhausting game.
We fought just like we always do."
After the last match, the show and the drones, he gotta tell how he lived the final stretch before deciding to take the shirt off.

🚨🇮🇷🇫🇷 Iran, which reported more than 3,000 deaths in its own protests this year, just summoned France's ambassador over its "violent" handling of school protests
Fires, vandalism, attacks on police and teachers, and over 1,000 schools hit at the peak... and Tehran wants to lecture Paris on human rights.
Iran's own crackdown in January left more than 3,000 dead by the regime's count(with many saying the number is MUCH higher), with rights groups saying security forces fired straight into crowds.
France has made over 5,000 arrests, and one officer has been charged for firing a tear gas grenade at a student, so its police are at least being held to account.
So which government should be lecturing which?
Students marching for better classrooms deserve a hearing, but the mobs torching schools and attacking cops need a firm hand, and Paris arguably waited too long to restore order.

🇮🇱🇺🇸 A classified CIA assessment reportedly warns Israel is "one spark away" from civil conflict ahead of its Oct. 27 election
A bitter fight over ultra-Orthodox draft exemptions, food prices up 9.5% in two years, armed and traumatized veterans coming home, and an election where neither bloc can find 61 seats...
That's the mix an August CIA assessment titled "Fracture From Within" reportedly flags as a path to CIVIL CONFLICT among Jewish Israelis.
One intelligence source said the authors are Israel experts and warned the country is "one spark away from real internal conflict."
So how seriously should anyone take it?
The CIA's Red Cell exists to challenge conventional thinking and game out worst cases, the agency hasn't commented, and Israel rode out months of mass protests over judicial reform in 2023 without the system breaking.
Still, Washington has a real stake.
Israel is America's closest partner in the Iran war, Pew found 60% of Americans now view it unfavorably, and a divided Israel would leave the US carrying more of this war's weight.
The Oct. 27 vote is the real test, and a clean result with a peaceful handover would prove this warning wrong.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 The Iran war is sending America's bombers home and stretching its carrier fleet thin
Every US bomber has left Britain, and the only carrier near Iran is the one normally based in Japan...
The Pentagon says its bombers can still strike anywhere from home, and that holds up, since B-2s flew about 37 hours round trip from Missouri to hit Iran's nuclear sites in 2025.
But distance has a price.
Every mission from home burns far more tanker fuel, and the war has already destroyed or damaged SEVEN KC-135 tankers.
At sea, the Bush just went 188 days without a port call after sailing around Africa to dodge Houthi missiles.
So how long can crews take this before they stop reenlisting?
Fighting from far away keeps planes and sailors safer, but any escalation after the midterms will lean on tankers, carriers and crews already worn down by seven long months of war.

🇺🇲🇷🇺 The CDC is closely monitoring the suspected PNEUMONIC PLAGUE case in SIBERIA
“At this time, there is no indication of a broader threat to the United States, but CDC and our interagency partners are prepared and will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
The situation has triggered a call between Trump and Putin, with POTUS telling reporters today that he will speak to the Russian leader “very soon.”
The vigilance comes after a Russian anti-plague institute employee died recently from pneumonia of unknown origin.
Now ~200 people have been placed under medical watch in Siberia.
Let’s hope Russia doesn’t give the world a cold shoulder when more information comes out🥶

🚨🇺🇸🇷🇺 Trump says he'll have news on Russia's suspected plague case tomorrow, as nearly 200 people sit under medical watch in Siberia
Asked what US intelligence is hearing:
"So far, we're in very deep discussions.
We'll be able to report about it probably tomorrow."
A 28-year-old worker at Irkutsk's anti-plague research institute reportedly broke a test tube of plague bacteria in September and died just last week.
Moscow insists it was just pneumonia... while quarantining a hospital.
Pneumonic plague spreads through coughing but is treatable with antibiotics if caught early.
Russia should open its lab records and test results now, because a cover-up is how one death becomes a crisis.

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 NEW: Radio recordings from the Iran blockade capture tanker captains BEGGING the US Navy not to fire and Iran's navy mocking "the tweets of some idiots"
-April 13, the US Navy opens the blockade over marine radio: "The U.S. has announced a formal blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas."
-Iran's Revolutionary Guard navy fires back: "Attention all vessels in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, this is Iranian SEPA Navy calling on channel 16. Strait of Hormuz is still closed, we will open it by the order of our leader, not by the tweets of some idiots."
-April 18, the captain of the Indian supertanker Sanmar Herald, carrying 2 MILLION barrels of Iraqi crude, tries to reach Iran's navy as gunboats close in: "Iranian navy, Iranian navy. Sanmar Herald." Then, after the attack: "I am turning back. I am turning back."
-May 6, the USS Abraham Lincoln warns the dark tanker Hasna before disabling its rudder with cannon fire: "Leave now. This is a legal action..." Hasna's crew sends out a distress call: "Sécurité, sécurité, sécurité."
-July 24, the Navy gives a sanctioned gas tanker with 28 Indian sailors 15 MINUTES to clear its engine room, and nearby ships can't even tell who's being called: "Lucy, they are calling motor vessel Lucy." Exactly 15 minutes later, the ship calls for help under an old name: "This is Disha, Disha, Disha."
-July 25, a Chinese captain stuck between the Navy and Iran's permission rules pleads his case: "USA aircraft, USA aircraft. Motor vessel Liao Fan calling." And then: "Yes, sir, now our company contacted the Iran Navy but now no get their permission." Fellow Chinese sailors beg him to give up: "Turn back now, brother. This is not the time to call the shipowner. The U.S. really will fire on you."
-August 11, after the Navy hits the containership Vela Nova, a nearby captain offers to rescue the crew: "Say it slowly please, is this the captain speaking?"
-Early September, the Iranian tanker Hawk, sitting at anchor, pleads with the Navy: "U.S. Navy, this is motor tanker Hawk. My engine already out of service." It was struck on Sept 1 anyway.
The big question here: Is this the war's most effective weapon, or its most expensive?
It's choking Iran's oil money better than years of sanctions did, but holding the line takes about 20 Navy ships that can't be anywhere else.

🇦🇷🇧🇯 Fans at Messi's farewell spent the minutes before kickoff calling the head of Argentine soccer a rat.
The chant was "Chiqui Tapia botón," aimed at Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA, before the match began.
The stands used the gap to go after the man who runs the federation.
They showed up for Messi and still wouldn't give Tapia a free pass. The song was the receipt.

🇹🇿 A tourist plane RAN OVER A ZEBRA and had to make an EMERGENCY LANDING in TANZANIA.
The crew discovered mid-air that the safari aircraft had damaged gears from hitting the animal during takeoff from Serengeti National Park.
The flight had been headed to Zanzibar but was diverted to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
The final descent DEFINITELY didn’t go smoothly, as the plane made a TERRIFYING landing on its belly while skidding across the runway.
So...a zebra's camouflage really DOES blend into the surroundings!
