Security experts warn that AI can now steal fingerprints from regular high-resolution selfies. Hackers may only need clear photos taken from about 5 feet away

Modern phone cameras and simple AI editing tools can sharpen faint fingerprint lines invisible to the naked eye, allowing people to create fake fingerprints to unlock phones, banking apps, payment systems, or smart door locks.

Chinese experts recently showed this on live TV using an ordinary celebrity selfie.

Although it does not work with every photo bad lighting, blur, or greater distance can prevent it, the technique has become much easier thanks to better cameras.

To protect yourself, think twice before posting selfies where your fingertips face the camera.

Blur or cut out the finger areas before sharing photos online, and use stronger security methods such as passkeys or Face ID for important accounts and devices.

It’s intentionally left open.

My view:

This isn’t about identity.

It’s about design.

When you remove definition, you maximize relatability.

Whether that’s clever… or calculated… depends on how you see it.

منشآت الطاقة الحيوية في المملكة تعرضت لاستهدافات متعددة مؤخراً، بما يشمل مرافق إنتاج البترول والغاز والنقل والتكرير، ومرافق البتروكيميائيات وقطاع الكهرباء في مدينة الرياض والمنطقة الشرقية وينبع الصناعية.

شملت الاستهدافات إحدى محطات الضخ على خط أنابيب شرق ـ غرب الحيوي، ما أدى إلى فقدان نحو 700 ألف برميل يومياً من كميات الضخ عبر الخط، والذي يعد المسار الرئيسي لإمداد الأسواق العالمية في هذه الفترة.

تعرض معمل إنتاج منيفة لاستهداف أدى إلى انخفاض إنتاجه بنحو 300 ألف برميل يومياً من طاقته الإنتاجية، في حين سبق تعرض معمل خريص لاستهداف أدى إلى انخفاض إنتاجه بمقدار 300 ألف برميل يومياً من طاقته الإنتاجية، مما أدى إلى انخفاض الطاقة الإنتاجية للمملكة بمقدار 600 ألف برميل يومياً.

امتدت الاستهدافات إلى مرافق التكرير الرئيسية، بما في ذلك مرافق ساتورب في الجبيل، ومصفاة رأس تنورة، ومصفاة سامرف في ينبع، ومصفاة الرياض، مما أثر بشكل مباشر على صادرات المنتجات المكررة إلى الأسواق العالمية.

Niantic says photos and scans collected through Pokémon Go and its AR apps have produced a massive dataset of more than 30 billion real-world images.
