@SwedishRumble Best thing for him would be for a loan to the championship where he’d play every week. He doesn’t need the pressure of being our “4th” midfielder in a season where we’re in 4 comps
@samuelluckhurst He’s arguably the most successful lonee in years and we struggled to get a good deal from him. Doesn’t exactly bode well for the academy, at least under ineos
@UTDRussell I think he’ll be a late developer. Needs to go somwhere for 2-3 years where he’ll be in the first team squad, either in pl or champ. He’ll be a useful player at a good level one day but not sure he’s a player for a top top team
I’d like to think we’d buy and resell but its unlikely. The player has to give the go ahead plus you can’t buy and resell in the same transfer window. Works on paper but you need a few stars to align for it work out. I’d almost argue we should have kept him, guarenteed him early cup matches/ the odd pl game to raise his profile further then push him for a transfer next summer.
I’ll try again “Matt Talks United”. The add ons could be anything, there are probably a few clauses in there based on player perf (eg apps) and perhaps boro’s performance. Performance generates revenue. If United have omitted any promotion clause they are stupid. Promotion allows Boro to pay when they have the cash. Whether you think boro get promoted or not is irrelevant. The whole point is you (as the seller) protect against the event that they do. 7m (assuming the entirety of the add on is earned on boro’s promotion, which it obviously isn’t), is materially below what they should demand.
@MattTalksUnited@StevenRailston@ManUtdMEN What don’t you understand about an option? If they get promoted, then they pay. They don’t pay now. We’ve low balled the add ons. I can say it again if it helps ?
@Dylyano@FPLfrasier Starting to think we could end up like spurs this season. No investment in the squad and cl, more games etc. A few injuries and were properly done, not just out the top 4, out the top half.
@dailong87@FergieStandards I don’t think a director of football have anything to do with the specifics around a transfer fee anyway. The department negotiating in/outgoings has been f’ing up for years
@JacobsBen Suppose we bought Lammens for 18m, no idea how much was upfront. Still you’d think we’d drive a better deal given how mad the market has been this summer plus Rushworth going for more
@433FutbolFan@UtdMicah Does the buyback clause actually mean much? We’d just get first refusal and the player can just say no. Would rather have a big sell on clause and I mean big
