I'm trying to transition to Mastodon, and getting to explore the experience of my username already being taken on the default network.
Say hi @[email protected]
@JeanBarker Some hosts are more reliable than others. I think they also rolled out a new version of Mastodon around that time and lots of places had downtime while updating.
@david_whitney The man has never had an original idea in his life. Complete and utter man child who'll call someone a pedo when they don't get their way. All his businesses succeed off other people's ideas and talent.
As someone that participates in personally enforced overwork, trust me - the bad stuff is bad.
I have weeks where I'm useless because I used up my "focus energy".
I would never wish my exact productivity cycle on anyone. I wish I could sleep more. I do therapy *regularly*...
@david_whitney Yes, one-size-fits-all schedules are only guidelines. We need to find our rhythm through constant self-work and deep understanding of our bodies, not just going along with the emotions + demands of your environment.
Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee wants us to ‘ignore’ Web3: ‘Web3 is not the web at all’

"Tim Berners-Lee [..] said that he doesn’t view blockchain as a viable solution for building the next iteration of the internet."
“When we only make short term technical decisions, we end up with tech debt. If you make short term hiring decisions, you end up with team debt — and diversity debt.
It’s bad for individuals, for teams, for society.”

Bottom line:
Just because performance reviews happen once or twice a year doesn't mean you should be giving feedback at that same cadence.
Surprises are fine for birthdays, not performance reviews.
@HSPtweets @grumpyshrubbery @PoGoShin108 @SensitiveRefuge That's some serious gatekeeping going on in that article! I can see the authors pain and frustration, but to present a simplified view, and then call it all a sham? Neurodivergence is wider than we yet understand, and gatekeeping doesn't benefit us, it blocks empathy.
So while on one end this might feel wasteful ("why have a product person for a 6-person engineering team who know what they are doing?!")
By adding half a PM (or a whole PM), that team can start producing 2-3x the value *for the org* & other teams as before (yes, really!)
Dr. Deming advocated "Operational Definitions:" clearly defined words, phrases, & concepts everyone working together agrees to use in the same way. Making assumptions about words like "tardy" or "good" is a fast track to confusion and disengagement. https://t.co/p970ljZCZx
I don’t coach women to do more office housework.
Research shows women are not only expected to do such tasks, they receive less recognition & rewards than men who do them. It’s even worse for women of color, who are tasked with more office housework than their white peers.
