We teach young girls to be “good,” then wonder why grown women struggle to be “bold.”
From a young age, many of us learn the art of masking.
We’re rewarded for being agreeable. We raise our hands tentatively. We soften our "no." We turn statements into questions just so we don’t seem “too much.”
That habit doesn't stay on the playground. It follows us into the boardroom.
I’ve watched the contrast play out again and again:
🔹 When men are clear, they’re seen as focused.
🔹 When men are direct, they’re seen as leaders.
🔻 When women do the same, we’re asked to soften, to wait, or to justify our seat at the table.
So, like many women, I learned to adjust. I took up less space. I questioned my own voice even when I knew I was right.
But your voice doesn’t disappear just because it’s been masked. It waits.
That realization is my "Why."
Through the @SuiFoundation and SuiHub Athens, I met @luki_notlowkey and @cerenomyy during the @Suisterhood cohorts. Across borders and backgrounds, our stories were the same. We realized how many brilliant women are still "unlearning" these childhood patterns years later.
That’s why I joined Suisterhood. And it’s why we designed Stand Up. Speak Up. together.
We aren't here to make women "louder." We are here to help them stop apologizing for their clarity and start trusting their natural authority again.
