In this CERN-Solvay Education video, we build our own version of a detector for photons our eyes cannot see: photons in the infrared. At CERN, special instruments, called electromagnetic calorimeters (EMCALs), are needed to catch them in our detectors. Here we have a look at the @ATLASexperiment EMCAL.
