Today I proclaimed National Police Week in Maryland to recognize over 15,000 police officers who protect communities across our state, and honor the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Preparations are in place for potential convoys. Maryland State Police remind citizens to follow https://t.co/2ZO0eKCuel for traffic alerts as law enforcement, transportation and emergency management agencies work to minimize potential traffic disruptions throughout the region.
Our team has been in contact with Montgomery County officials and @MarylandOSFM, @MDMEMA, and @MDSP have offered their full assistance in response to this fire and explosion in Silver Spring.
Please keep all those involved, including our first responders, in your prayers.
Tonight we came together to show support for the brave people of Ukraine as they fight for their country, for their freedom, and for their very lives. It was truly inspiring and heartwarming to see people from all across our state coming together in this spirit of solidarity.
There will be a solidarity vigil for Ukraine tonight at 6 p.m. on Lawyers Mall in Annapolis. This is an opportunity for Marylanders to come together and show support for the brave Ukrainian people as they fight for their country and their lives.
Today we recognized Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the State House, welcoming officers from our state law enforcement agencies, as well as chiefs and sheriffs from across the state.
Whether it’s our doctors, nurses, and EMTs, or the clinical staff at our testing and vaccination sites, we owe a profound debt of gratitude to our frontline medical workers. I am proclaiming Feb. 7-13 as Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week in Maryland.
This Veterans Day, I ask all Marylanders to set aside time to honor our veterans and their families. Raise the flag from your porch, ask a local hero about the story of their service, or simply say ‘thank you.’
The @MDMEMA, @DHSgov, and @FBI welcome all faiths to join them for an evening of discussion on safety & security as we approach the 2021 Holiday Season.

While major coastal/tidal flooding will be the main story with this system, Flood Watches & Wind Advisories/Warnings have also been issued in other portions of the area. Check https://t.co/jmfOhAnmF3 for the latest at your location! #MDwx#VAwx#DCwx#WVwx
This could be the most significant tidal flooding event in the region in the last 20 years. Coastal flood warnings, coastal flood watches, and gale warnings are in effect. Some counties already have sandbag operations underway. It is important to take this very seriously.
This #NationalFirstRespondersDay—and everyday—we say thank you to our brave law enforcement officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, EMTs, and paramedics who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.
