Strong presence from MedB at #EASLCongress2026 in Barcelona.
Great to see our clinicians and young investigators presenting and discussing current research in hepatology, cirrhosis and liver disease throughout this week’s congress.

MedB explains: Portal Hypertension
What it actually means:
Blood can’t flow properly through the liver, so pressure builds up in surrounding vessels.
Why it matters:
This silent pressure is what triggers many of the most dangerous liver complications.
One challenge that carries into every new year in Internal Medicine research:
negative results.
They shape better hypotheses, refine models, and prevent repetition,
yet they’re still underreported.
Progress depends on what we learn, not only on what we publish.
The holiday season changes hospital dynamics.
In Internal Medicine, we often see more decompensations, delayed presentations, and complex admissions, not fewer.
For research and care alike, this period is a reminder:
medicine doesn’t pause for the calendar.
Inside MedB
Not every scientific discussion leads to a breakthrough.
Many lead to refinement:
narrowing a question, challenging assumptions, deciding what not to pursue.
In hospital based research, progress often comes from clarity rather than novelty.
Research doesn’t advance in isolation.
It grows in the small moments:
🩺 clinicians comparing cases
📊 researchers reviewing data
💬 teams challenging ideas
Collaboration is the real engine of translational medicine.

Science moves faster when we work together. At MedB Lab, we're connected with hepatology research groups across Germany and Europe to push translational liver science forward. Stay tuned for updates post-ECLCB-9. #Hepatology#MedResearch
The CLIF-C ACLF score predicts short-term mortality in acute-on-chronic liver failure more accurately than MELD or Child–Pugh.
Landmark validation led by Prof. Jonel Trebicka.

Just 1 week until #ECLCB9 in Groningen 🇳🇱 (Sept 24–26).
Europe’s liver cell biology community will share new discoveries, foster collaboration, and spotlight young researchers.
We’ll be sharing highlights — stay tuned.

Portal hypertension = increased pressure in the portal vein system 🧬
It drives cirrhosis complications like:
• Varices
• Ascites
• Encephalopathy
At MedB Lab, we explore safer, non-invasive ways to measure and track it.

Biomarkers are your body’s early warning system. 🧬
In hepatology, they help us:
• Detect liver disease earlier
• Track progression
• Tailor treatment
At MedB Lab, we decode these signals daily.
Which biomarker should we unpack next? 👇 #AskMedB
The ECLCB-9 meeting (European Club for Liver Cell Biology) happens Sept 24–26 in Groningen 🇳🇱.
We’ll be following closely and sharing key takeaways.

What if one treatment could lower 30-day mortality in ACLF by almost a third? 🧬
Prof. Jonel Trebicka’s 2025 meta-analysis shows:
✅ 30-day mortality ↓ (RR ~0.70)
✅ 90-day survival ↑ (RR 0.81)
✅ 1-year outcomes ↑ (RR 0.85)

Not all cirrhosis behaves the same.
🧬 Distinct inflammasome activation patterns are associated with ACLF risk, even in patients without prior decompensation.

🧠 What other organ can lose 70% of its tissue… and still bounce back?
Your liver isn’t just vital, it’s a regeneration powerhouse.
Understanding this capacity is key in surgery, transplantation, and chronic disease recovery.

🧠 Did you know?
Cirrhosis can develop silently — with no symptoms for years.
Often, by the time it’s diagnosed, the liver is already severely damaged.
Let’s talk about why timing is everything 👇
At MedB Lab, our mission is to flip the script:
⏱️ From late-stage rescue ➝ to early detection
🧪 From one-size-fits-all ➝ to precision-tailored care
Because in liver disease, early action = longer, better lives.
