@MicheleSteele Interesting the university and coach would “come to a mutual agreement” about the consequences of Hickey’s report. Telling as to what was always the university’s priority here—it wasn’t the wellbeing of its student athletes.
Thanks to @MicheleSteele for having me on SportsCenter. Northwestern allowed hazing to take root in its locker room and missed the moment in responding to the allegations. The university faces huge civil exposure should a hazing victim decide to step forward and file suit.
Here’s what aired on SportsCenter earlier tonight ahead of the news of Northwestern firing Pat Fitzgerald - and what got NU football to this point - with student journalists leading the way:
Other incarcerated people could hear Davon Gillians begging for food and saying he couldn't feel his legs, and that he was scared he was going to die in the restraint chair, a lawsuit says.
@romyellenbogen reports for @TB_Times: https://t.co/99gj2TYUnf
Davon Gillians was killed while in custody at FCI Coleman - the country’s largest federal prison. His family deserves answers and justice and we intend to deliver both.
A lawsuit alleges that at FCC Coleman, a 22-year-old was kept in a restraint chair without food, water or medicine despite his pleas.
He died on May 19, 2021. Medical examiners ruled the death a homicide. He was set to be released in 2022.

Thank you @RRamosWPLG for reporting on our recently filed lawsuit. Lapses in security led to a carjacking and ultimately the death of a 25 year old woman. This was a completely preventable tragedy.
Proud of my colleagues Steve Cain and Carol Goraczko. In what should’ve been the happiest moment of their lives, this family suffered horrific neglect. Steve/Carol’s hard work will ensure their son is taken care of forever.
We’re proud to announce that Stephen Cain obtained a multimillion-dollar recovery in a birth injury case against the federal government. https://t.co/U47btcrxkG
Antonio Tsialas was thriving in his first year at college. Then he was found dead in a gorge, and the fraternity that recruited him closed ranks. What happened is still a mystery. https://t.co/uoMKQySewu

“I’m just a mother wanting to know what happened to her son,” Ms. Tomasello said recently. “We don’t care about anything else other than knowing what happened to Antonio so that it does not happen again.” A devastating story by @NickAtNews https://t.co/dpBfdMOUBH
Michael Levine and A. Dax Bello of @STFBCLaw represent the four adult children of the late Publix employee. Robert J. Grace, Grant W. Kindrick, Victoria M. McLaughlin of @BBDGLawTampa, and Jason A. Glusman and William Bromley of Wicker Smith rep Publix.

After beating back Publix’s motion to dismiss, we are looking forward to getting this case into discovery and holding it accountable for its misguided decisions.
Publix tried to argue the death of a 70-year-old deli worker should be handled by worker's comp and motioned to have the lawsuit thrown out. The judge said no and the case is still moving ahead. Latest for @TB_Times https://t.co/0ErQg8p44h
We were able to resolve the family’s civil suit against Cornell, but are disappointed that no criminal charges are being brought. Our investigation and the investigation performed by police make clear there were violations of New York’s hazing law.
Cornell University Police have found no wrongdoing in the death of 18-year-old Antonio Tsialas, who was hazed at a frat party prior to his death. https://t.co/eYT10p1WQZ
As the issue of legal immunity is debated, we must remember our essential workers and ensure they are adequately protected. Safe workers and safe consumers will help rebuild the economy. #litigation#COVID
@MelissainJax@Publix@WJCTNews Since filing this case I’ve heard from many people across the state, from customers to former employees, all reporting the same story: Publix said no masks because it will “scare”customers.
@sara_dinatale@TB_Times Thank you for covering this important story. Since filing the lawsuit on behalf of the Gutierrez family, we have heard from so many people across the state confirming the same story: Publix said no to masks because it didn’t want to “scare” customers.
@orlandosentinel Since filing this case, we’ve heard from many Publix customers, former employees, and family members employees all confirming the same story:Publix said no masks because it will “scare” customers. From Miami to Sarasota-the same directive was made.Publix chose profits over people.
