#TBT: @ABagyenzire on the role of a public editor.
"...The cardinal role of the #media doesn't change because of #digitalization. How then does the #media remain professional and profitable?... We have to go back to the basics. One of those is to take #accountability to the public by having the #publiceditor. They have an important role to help the public to differentiate between professional #media and the others..."

An ombudsman serves as a newsroomโs primary mechanism for:
โข Quality Assurance: Upholding core reporting standards.
โข Risk Mitigation: Resolving complaints early to avoid legal costs.
โข Audience Engagement: Building long-term public trust.
Internal accountability is not just an ideal, but a sustainable operational strategy.

PARLIAMENTARY PRESS GALLERY REOPENS TO JOURNALISTS
The Parliamentary Press Gallery has reopened to journalists, restoring a designated media space that had been taken away during the 11th Parliament.
According to Uganda Parliamentary Press Association President Samuel Ibanda Mugabi, the decision follows a meeting between Speaker Rt. Hon. Jacob Oboth-Oboth and the UPPA leadership.
The gallery became operational with todayโs plenary sitting and will accommodate writers and reporters, while camera operators will remain at their usual position near the VIP Gallery.
UPPA has welcomed the decision as an important step for professional and independent coverage of Parliament.
