Proud to be named an Atlanta Top Doctor in neurosurgery for a second year! Could not do it without and amazing group of nurses, APPs, residents, MAs, co-surgeons and administrators. @EmoryMidtown @emoryhealthcare @AtlantaMagazine
We had an amazing time in Cartagena, Colombia for their Congreso Nacional de Neurocirugia 2023 meeting. Amazing culture, wonderful people and beautiful city.
Given her severe positive SVA surgical plan was a L5/S1 ALIF, L2-4 OLIF, and posterior L2-Pelvis instrumented fusion. The olif was challenging given the grade 3 spondy but an expandable trial helped with the reduction. @CNS_Update@spinesection
Here is a good example of why we always teach to leave at least 6mm of pars when doing a laminectomy. Especially adjacent to a fusion. @CNS_Update @spinesection @AliAlawiehmdphd

Always great to be able to train/teach surgical techniques on cadaver’s with Emory residents. Great morning doing anterior/posterior cervical approaches. Thank you Medtronic for supplying the cadavers and equipment. @Medtronic @EmoryNeurosurg @CNS_Update
Performed our 6th endoscopic spine case. Took about 90min. Starting to hit a stride and feel more comfortable with this very powerful technique! Right L5/S1 interlaminar discectomy. @CNS_Update @EmoryNeurosurg @emoryhealthcare @AliAlawiehmdphd
My daughter asked me how many people are on earth. I told her 7 billion. Well as of last month, Nov 2022, we hit 8 billion according to Wikipedia! Did I miss that in the news? Seems like a big deal.
Previous L2-S1 fusion presenting with severe pain and weakness. Adjacent degeneration at L2/3 causing severe pain/weakness but not a good surgical candidate secondary to worsening metastatic cancer. Endoscopic technique will allow her to rapidly receive her cancer treatments.
Today we did 2 robotic MIS TLIFs, a tubular foraminotomy and percutaneous SI joint fusion. Days like these sure are exciting to be a spine surgeon! @EmoryMidtown @emoryhealthcare
