@MGCampbell91 @NavyLookout @pinstripedline @HMSPWLS Simply, it only deploys on lovely little NATO vanity tours once a year and it can’t deploy independently as a UK carrier strike group, unlike its predecessor HMS Ark Royal, so yes, one big expensive white elephant 👍🏻

@CarlDavies226 @larisamlbrown @thetimes OP FORTIS (CSG21) and OP HIGHMAST (CSG25) were both under COMUKCSG, they weren't NATO deployments. They included escorts from NATO countries, that didn't make them NATO deployments.

The current French CSG deployment isn't a NATO deployment, despite Italian and Spanish escorts.
