I am glad I had no plans to write about the 60th anniversary of the Shinkansen, as I would not have been able to top this delightful ode to the world's greatest train by @Urbandirt

Celebrating 17 years since we finished the fight in Halo 3! Relive the iconic moments and step back into the boots of a legend today.
Happy anniversary, Halo 3. Hard to believe it’s been 17 years already. Still seems like only yesterday that we were getting ready for the midnight launch and excited for the world to start playing it.
July 20th, 1969 is a date that stands high in my life – it was the day that we, together as one people, achieved the greatest scientific and technological feat in human history. The specific role that Neil, Mike and I performed in the event was but one part of an immeasurably larger effort – not just for our nation, but for all mankind. As I look back on what we accomplished 55 years ago, I am still inspired by what we all saw and did – the best of America and the best of humanity. Thank you for the privilege and the honor of serving you, and for being part of this exciting and wonderous journey with me. #Apollo11
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY was released 56 years ago today. Acclaimed as one of the most influential films to come out of Hollywood and a Stanley Kubrick masterpiece, the story of how it came to the screen is as mind-boggling as the Stargate…

Marcello Gandini left an indelible mark in both car design and Lamborghini’s history, and our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this time.
Ciao Maestro.
I just remembered this Japanese commercial for DBZ: Kakarot and how perfectly it reflects how much Toriyama's work really affected so many people's lives.
May he forever rest in peace.
Only 66 years from first flight to landing on the moon, but now half a century has passed since the last moon landing.
That cannot be our high water mark as a civilization.
Humanity should have a moon base, cities on Mars and be out there among the stars!
