A completely fair assessment. I don't think anybody can hand on heart say that we are playing top level fluid football in any phase of the game. But the team's mentality, grit and refusal to die, has been elite level. No controversy here.......
The Tuchel/Bellingham/Madueke scenario is very intriguing.
It’s sparked a lot of anger from supporters.
Watching the game I wasn’t happy with the performance, from a footballing POV. But the commitment, effort was never in question. So I agree with Tuchel.
I think in any normal year...
If England went into a quarter-final against a side that had comfortably knocked out Brazil...
With Saka, Rice and James not fit to start, Livramento already ruled out, another right-back option in Quansah suspended... and a potential Rice replacement having broken his arm in a freak accident...
AND the game coming just 5 days after one of the most exhilarating, gruelling England matches of all-time... beating Mexico, in the Azteca... a place they hadn't lost since 2013...
And you concede the 1st goal, for the 2nd time in 3 knock-out matches...
I think a lot of manager's would panic and think "man, this might not be our year."
Not Tuchel. He finds a way and his team, which are so, so gritty and determined, find a way.
What a guy!
Keep thinking about that Gabriel Clarke interview. First he seemed to purposely fail to comprehend the nuance of what Tuchel was saying, then he seemed to take it personally and decided to stir the pot with Bellingham. Not really what the team needed at that moment.
Gabriel Clarke’s two interviews with Thomas Tuchel and Jude Bellingham were dreadful. Tuchel was very clear in his praise for England’s strength of character but he wasn’t happy with the performance. Clarke failed to understand Tuchel’s mentality comments. He then gave a misleading follow up to Bellingham which suggested to Bellingham that Tuchel was unhappy with the team. Unnecessarily disruptive and the wrong context of interviewing in two separate interviews.

@timstillman_ People that don't have the intellectual capability to discuss or debate in good faith, always seem to adopt the position of interpreting context in a way that allows them to go on the offensive whilst also somehow disengaging. Maddening!
- Bruno G has directly told Eddie Howe he wants to join the English Champions
- Kia still doing all the communication between the clubs
- Arsenal internally discussing another offer
- Bruno G preferably wants it sorted before pre-season either way but wont do a Isak.
During World War II, German soldiers confiscated Dutch bikes. As a result a popular football chant when the Netherlands play Germany is ‘My grandad wants his bicycle back.’
Wouldn't surprise me if the clubs have been negotiating quietly, allowing NUFC to control the optics in order to protect their incoming business, while also not panicking fans too early about yet another massive sale. @themagic_tophat has been clear about financial positions 👌🏼
🚨 BREAKING from @UOLEsporte:
Arsenal and Newcastle United have been negotiating for over a month regarding a transfer for Bruno Guimarães. 🇧🇷
Arsenal are preparing to submit their final offer, which is expected to be worth around £72m. 💸
🚨 EXCL: Bruno Guimaraes informs Newcastle United of wish to leave & join Arsenal. #AFC stepping up pursuit - ready to offer deal worth up to £60m at present but no club-to-club contact yet + #NUFC stance still not entertaining bids for 28yo @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/6W3cpcqKKh
Morgan Rogers Update
• Morgan Rogers has given preference to joining the English champions. Other clubs are still actively in the race but acknowledge the player's current preference.
• Morgan Rogers has respectfully communicated his desire to leave to senior figures at Villa (significant).
• Personal terms have been explored and are not a hindrance at all.
• Morgan Rogers is sold on the Mikel Arteta project and plan for him.
• Morgan Rogers was on the shortlist of attacking reinforcements Arsenal discussed last summer.
• My understanding is that Villa and Arsenal are in contact through unofficial channels regarding any potential deal. Remember my words: the fee is key to this deal. The player is fully on board.
• Andrea Berta has asked to be kept fully informed about any other club making a move for Morgan. If Arsenal do make a move, there will be another update.
Chelsea, in particular, have been pleading with Morgan to showcase their plan for him, but as of today, the response is "Arsenal." Manchester United have also explored the situation of Morgan, with Carrick being a big fan.
Bradley Barcola and one other player are also of interest to Arsenal. Details on that in due time.
Arsenal are also in direct contact with multiple midfielders, as recently as a few days ago. The likes of Bouaddi, Scott, Kone, Larsson, and two others. As I mentioned yesterday, we are yet to make contact with any club officially while Berta explores personal terms with all of them. One of these players is convinced he is joining Arsenal. It's important to remember that Livramento also felt the same way, but it highlights how strong the conversations are.
Arsenal are also monitoring the Madrid midfielder situation. Tonali was offered to us in January; talks have never surpassed personal terms as of today. These clubs are using Elliot Anderson's deal as a market scale. Newcastle want crazy money, as do Palace for Wharton.
Personally, I hope its Ayyoub Bouaddi we accelerate a move for!
Taking a very short holiday. I'll be back!

That was an extraordinary game of football and an phenomenal win for England. Stunning performance under the most intense pressure. Bellingham is a remarkable player. And somehow rice just keeps doing whatever it takes to help his team win no matter the circumstances. Incredible
