How do reclaimed upland forests post oil sands mining compare to other boreal forests? Find out in this open access paper! Thanks @MGrahamClark1 for leading the charge on this. @UW_Hydromet https://t.co/0PlsIEzAxW
Less crowded at some of Puerto Rico’s natural wonders! Streamflow measurement made on the rock slide…..just a few bumps. Thanks #FIHM22 for a great meeting. @MGrahamClark1@Erin_Nicholls_
Lots of interested folks for Graham's @MGrahamClark1
poster on the recovery of forests from reclamation post oil sands mining. Didn't see F1's Sebastian Vettel stop by as I know he is interested in the oil sands, but the poster is up for one more day! #FIHM22@UW_Hydromet
@ScootJD Reviewers hate it. I struggled to get our hand drawn abstract past reviewers on my recent DOM paper. Granted, it wasn't as cool as bugs in a hot tub but still...
@ScootJD@MikePeacock86 It's funny how desensitized you become to the ecosystems you grow up in. As an Ontario kid I don't think twice about black bears when I'm in the field but grizzlies and polar bears scare the poop out of me even though encounters are far more rare.
Congrats to @Erin_Nicholls_ on winning the Bert Tanner Student Presentation Award of the 🇨🇦 Society of Agriculture and Forest Meteorology. Soil-stomata-sky: How forests and shrubs control evaporative partitioning in a subarctic, alpine catchment. Great title!
1/n) #Methane emissions from tree stems: a new (research) frontier in the global #carbon cycle indeed! This year has seen a rapid increase in #Treethane research publications - expanding our current knowledge with new observations, insights, biomes, drivers + sampling techniques
Congratulations Joe @JS_Desmarais on a great MSc defence looking at historical @WolfCreekYT water temperature data. Good luck with the new job at @ecofishresearch!!
I am looking to recruit a Post-doc (2 yrs) interested in water temperature model development and application. We're a great group and you will also work with @GWFutures core modelling team. Figured recruiting via twitter is worth a shot! Pass along or message me!
Still missing #fieldwork this #fieldworkfriday. Good thing I have lots of pre-twitter life backlog. A throwback to 2015 working from the CCGS Amundson on an ice island ablation monitoring met station with @crawfisha north of Baffin Island.
@ScootJD@BryanMood@EmmaLaurelD Maybe you can get a field course going in your new position. Teaching is so much easier when you are standing next to the subject matter.
I miss #fieldwork! At least I've been lucky to have lots of it in my life. Here are some students fording a river in an outwash plain after lichen dating marines in Jasper (a decade ago!). @BryanMood@EmmaLaurelD#outdoorTeachingIsBest should be a hashtag.
Congratulations @Fiona_Chapman_ on a great masters defence looking at long term hydrometric changes and patterns in @WolfCreekYT. Good luck at @inrsciences!!
