جس نے کسی مسلمان کو نادانستہ قتل کر دیا تو (اس پر) ایک مسلمان غلام یا باندی کا آزاد کرنا اور خون بہا (کا ادا کرنا) جو مقتول کے گھر والوں کے سپرد کیا جائے (لازم ہے) مگر یہ کہ وہ معاف کر دیں.‘‘

مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسًام بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ اَوْ فَسَادٍ فِی الْاَرْضِ فَکَاَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًا.
’’جس نے کسی شخص کو بغیر قصاص کے یا زمین میں فساد (پھیلانے کی سزا) کے (بغیر، ناحق) قتل کر دیا تو گویا اس نے (معاشرے کے) تمام لوگوں کو قتل کر ڈالا.‘‘
