We are pleased to announce that the Missouri Student Journalist of the Year is Arti Jain of Ladue Horton Watkins High School.
Jain is a third-year journalism student who feels that journalism has given her “the privilege of uplifting voices that had long gone unheard.”

Elizabeth Franklin from Parkway West was named the 2024 Missouri Interscholastic Journalism Association’s Student Journalist of the Year in March. St. Louis NPR recently published a feature on Franklin and her journalism endeavors.

Hannah Wise, an assistant managing editor at the KC Star, who oversees digital strategy efforts, served as the keynote speaker at J-Day at Mizzou. Wise talked to aspiring journalists about the Star's efforts to reach a younger, more socially connected generation. @hwise29@KCStar
Congrats to Dan Mueller of Varsity Yearbook, who is the MIJA Taft Award winner. Mueller was nominated by six local advisers. "He has become the go-to guy for literally thousands of students and advisers across the state and country," adviser Nancy Smith said. @VarsityYearbook
Congrats to MIJA Teacher of the Year Laura Greenley of Knox County R-1 High. Greenley is the multimedia instructor & yearbook adviser. She "continues to ensure that the students in our program have everything they need to be successful journalists," adviser Dawn Llewellyn said.
Congrats to Knox County R-1 adviser Dawn Llewellyn, MIJA's 2024 Rising Star. "With her extensive newspaper reporting and editing background, Dawn played a pivotal role in revitalizing the newspaper side of multimedia journalism within our school," adviser Laura Greenley said.
