Without fail, whenever internet trolls mock me for being a witch, they do so with transphobia, misogyny, and ableist slurs. Historical witch hunts always targeted women, queer people, and the disabled. So really, you're all the same cowardly idiot mob you always have been.
So apparently news of this supposed "hex" on the fae and the moon has reached BuzzFeed..? And witches wonder why people don't take us seriously... https://t.co/0N28FMv2ve
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson There'll always be extremists on either side of an issue but their actions shouldn't determine the rights of everyone else.
Society embraces the notion that men and women need to be treated differently - which is a problem feminism seeks to correct.
Also, racism is unacceptable.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson I was just wondering where you draw the distinction - you said self-identification is problematic, but that's the beginning of the journey for trans people.
I understand your focus and don't want to argue - just looking for your opinion since our POVs overlap somewhat.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson I definitely have issues with this - but I also see issues with trans folx being forced into a prison correlating to their "sex" rather than their gender. Not all trans people have surgery to modify their bodies - some rely entirely on hormones. Their safety is at risk, also.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson Passions definitely run high 🙃
I react sharply when I think someone is oversimplifying a concept like biological sex and it's interaction with gender identity - especially on a thread discussing the legitimacy of trans individuals' wo/manhood.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson I think I'm just stuck on the idea that a human should be denied the dignity of their existence by the possibility of someone else weaponizing their validation.
But I do see your concern.
Also, I apologize. I tend to come off harsh. Completely unintentional.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson I'm trying to understand your position, actually, so I can broaden my perspective.
Because it sounds like the entire issue is systemic - men are socialized to endanger women.
In my opinion arguing against trans rights contributes to that larger issue.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson Society is what teaches people to be predatory in the first place - unless you are ready to admit that as a biological male you were born with a predisposition toward sexually assaulting women..?
You can't site a social concept while denying its influence.
@Federicogv98 @Riotdaisy@katscrossing16@hallwayhighway@JaceJoseph3@EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson I questioned your scientific acumen. You have yet to address any of the subjects I have attempted to discuss - instead you choose an ad hominem defense - the irony of which is astounding considering the nature of your complaint.
@jasamac52 @khadija65838696 @EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson And what determines what a "man" or a "woman" is if not the roles they play within a society? Do you mean to reduce the conscious experience of an entire species to the simple function of their biology? If so, I have several follow up questions.
@Federicogv98 @Riotdaisy@katscrossing16@hallwayhighway@JaceJoseph3@EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson For a physicist you seem to have little respect for empirical evidence. I can only assume that you are an inept physicist. Moreover I fail to see how physics addresses the biological implications being discussed... Perhaps the mechanics, but little else.
@Federicogv98 @Riotdaisy@katscrossing16@hallwayhighway@JaceJoseph3@EdgarBoldu@EmmaWatson Those aren't the only combinations... And it ignores the property of chromosomal crossover as well as phenotypical expression - which is wholly determined by protein and hormone production... It appears that you are relying on science taught at a rudimentary level.
