I'm starting a Fellowship at @MJAKLabs
Students, researchers & builders working on robotics, computer vision, embodied AI & more are welcome.
Selected fellows will receive $300 in GPU and $25 in Anthropic API Key.
Apply: https://t.co/5VCKdVdIIu
Applications close in 2 days.
robotics is exploding, but the community is fragmented
what if we built an open robotics alliance to connect researchers, founders, engineers, students & hobbyists, share knowledge, collaborate, and build together?
@MJAKLabs Physical AI Fellowship is backed by @sfcompute.
Special thanks to @evanjconrad and Emily Chen for supporting the fellowship.
Each fellow will have access to $300 in compute credits.
Applications close soon. Apply now: https://t.co/5VCKdVdIIu
I’ve been hiding behind “ryassho” on the internet for a while now, so I figured it’s time to tell you who’s actually behind the account
for now, let’s just stick with that name until i’m comfortable putting my real name out here
this is going to be a little long, but hear me out
i was born and brought up in a small village in maharashtra
my father is a farmer and businessman, but he has always loved technology and cricket, so naturally, i grew up around both
he used to get me the latest video games and consoles, and a good chunk of my childhood was spent sitting inside four walls playing super mario and contra
i still love video games btw
somewhere along the way, that curiosity about technology stuck
my father got me a laptop when i was in 6th standard
it was technically his laptop, but i definitely used it more than he did 😂
i was pretty good at studies too, 96.40% in 10th
then came the part where things got a little complicated
i started preparing for engineering entrance exams and quickly realised that getting into a good engineering college in india meant entering the rat race
so i joined coaching
15 days later, i left
the environment and the mindset just didn’t feel like something i wanted to spend years of my life chasing
thankfully, my parents supported that decision
it wasn’t an easy one, but having them believe in me made it possible
then i thought, if i’m going to compete for a top engineering college in india, why not try for the world
so i applied to mit, stanford and a bunch of other universities
i still have the rejection letters somewhere
but i also got into nyu tandon school of engineering and several other universities
couldn’t go because of money
fair enough
so i ended up at a tier 3 engineering college in india studying automation and robotics engineering
and honestly, that ended up being one of the most important chapters of my life
i wanted to build things
i wanted to work on robotics
i wanted to build something that could eventually matter outside of a college project
so i started working on robotics and data infrastructure
i applied to accelerators
i reached out to startups
i tried to get people to believe in an idea that, at the time, probably sounded a little too ambitious coming from a kid at a tier 3 college in india
eventually i realised that if i couldn’t build the company yet, i could at least learn the industry from the inside
so i started working with startups in the space in pretty much every capacity i could get my hands on
whatever got me closer to the problems i wanted to solve
i cared less about the title and more about getting the reps
and today, i’m working in the exact industry i’ve wanted to build in for years
still learning
still figuring things out
still trying to understand what i want to build
outside of work, i’m honestly just a guy who likes doing a lot of random things
i love playing video games
i’ve been single for what feels like the longest time
so if you’re single too, lmk
maybe we can go on a date 😂
i’m constantly travelling between pune and bangalore
i love going on treks and road trips
this year i really want to make it to ladakh or kashmir
i also love cooking
and i’m actually pretty good at maharashtrian food
give me a kitchen and i’ll figure something out
i want to get into adventure sports too
skydiving, scuba diving, paragliding
anything that makes me question my life choices for a few minutes
i’m still figuring out where all of this goes
career, startups, robotics, travel, life
maybe a little bit of everything
but that’s me for now
if you made it this far, thanks for reading :)
