Key quote: “long-term investors are shielded from the risks because they can lock up their capital to weather market cycles”
The only risk being “shielded” is the risk of being dumb (selling in a panic). That’s not a trivial thing, we’re all dumb sometimes in this way. But just to spitball here, long-term investors can shield themselves by, say, working on not being dumb. It works very well even in liquid assets.
Also, have I mentioned before the illiquidity has gone from a bug to a feature (and I’m not picking on this article, it’s ubiquitous)?

I may have also mentioned that when something goes from a bug to a feature you now pay in giving up extra ER rather than receiving it.
What was once “I can buy illiquids as I’m LONG-TERM and don’t need the money for a long time” has become “I buy illiquids because I know I’m too SHORT-TERM and being in illiquids saves me from myself.” David Swenson would not approve of this full 180 in reasoning. Full 180.
@KentJett@beyoncegarden Its annoying. I actually laugh when someone gets up real quick an pushes to get out but then still has to wait when every row in front of where they make it to gets up, slowly gets their luggage, and crawls out...
@Bouje99@awealthofcs@grok Another factor is also population, about 150 million more people today, with most gains in the cities/suburbs in coastal areas where housing is generally more expensive .
@IamCharlietoday@AntiLeftMemes I thought so too at first, till I rewatched it. The bike was NOT in the right hand lane--he was at the edge of the middle lane and just turned. Had he been in the middle of the right lane he would have been in the right of way.
@j_bambrick I feel like one misconception regarding A/C is folks perceive all of the US is at the same latitude as England and Northern Europe. Nope, NY is more like Spain, Texas is like Northern Africa. So with a Western economy, it makes sense a bulk of the US has A/C.
@christine_benz While I agree with your premise, its a bank, not an advisor. They offer the product and execute the transaction, but they have no advice responsibility.
@BillWinterberg Banks adding 3FA now! You must do the secret handshake, after inputting the texted code, after entering your login and pw.... Good luck aggregators!!!
@moseskagan Its not about that; its the infrastructure can't support millions crossing the border a year. Schools, healthcare, city services, etc. all get overwhelmed. The tide has to be slowed to a nice , even trickle. And its incredibly unfair to those who come legally & wait in line.
