Oregon public schools are awful and so why are graduation rates so high?!

Graduation requirements have been suspended in Oregon… The OEA union labeled standardized tests like Oregon’s Statewide Summative Assessment as “instruments of racism and a biased system.”

Tina Kotek's decision to opt Oregon out of the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit slammed the door on an opportunity that could have helped thousands of Oregon families give their children a better education. The program would have unlocked potentially millions of dollars in privately funded scholarships to help Oregon families pay for educational opportunities without costing taxpayers a single cent.

At a time when Oregon ranks near the bottom nationally in education outcomes, rejecting additional resources for our kids is indefensible. That's exactly what's wrong with Tina Kotek's leadership: time and again, ideology comes before Oregon families.

Oregon students deserve better. As governor, I won't let partisan politics stand in the way of giving every child the tools they need to succeed.
