China crossed the critical mass phase of the #EV transition years ago. Now we're seeing the second-order effects.

Vehicle exports have risen from 1 million in 2020 to a projected 12 million in 2026.

At that level, China exports more vehicles than Japan, South Korea and the United States combined.

If the current trends continue, China will challenge the combined exports of Europe, Japan, South Korea and the United States by 2027.

What started as an EV story is now becoming a global automotive story.

Scale drives lower costs.
Lower costs drive competitiveness.
Competitiveness drives exports.

The question is no longer whether Chinese automakers will become global leaders.

But, how much of the global auto industry they'll control by 2035... or whether a meaningful non-Chinese auto industry will even exist by then.

The reality is that the world has never witnessed an automotive export expansion of this magnitude and speed from any nation in history.

Perhaps the bigger story isn't that China is dominating auto exports but that the humble automobile has evolved.

Cars are no longer mechanical products competing on engines, transmissions and brand heritage. They are increasingly software-defined platforms, batteries on wheels, rolling computers connected to vast manufacturing ecosystems.

And when the product changes, the winners change. What we're witnessing may not simply be a shift in market share.

It may be the largest transfer of industrial power in automotive history.
