Expectation vs. Reality of fixing it yourself to save money! From using a basketball to take off a wheel boot to hot glue and a plunger on dents who actually lets their friend try these life hacks on their car?!

Big thank you to @salisbury6thform for hosting the Salisbury Maths Challenge 2025. Pupils had a great time working as a team to solve mathematical problems and competing against a number of local schools. Very proud of SJCS Team 2 who managed to bag themselves a 2nd place finish!
Why I find it helpful to learn from others
We can sometimes think we’ve got to do everything ourselves, from scratch.
But if someone has done something similar to what we’re working on, why wouldn’t we check out what they’ve done?
This isn’t copying or plagiarism, instead it’s about checking out ideas that might be useful in our contexts.

The best employees don’t magically succeed—
They’re set up for success from day 1:
Most new hires don’t fail
because they can’t do the job.
They fail because they
don’t know what’s expected.
When this happens:
Progress stops.
Confusion grows.
Confidence drops.
Use the G.R.O.W.T.H. framework for success.
Here’s how:
✅ Goals
Set clear, simple objectives.
✅ Resources
Give them the tools and training they need.
✅ Opportunities
Let them try tasks that build skills and confidence.
✅ Wins
Celebrate small successes early and often.
✅ Timelines
Create a clear plan with deadlines.
✅ Handoffs
Give responsibilities one step at a time.
The best teams start strong.
People perform best when they know what’s expected.
Alignment on day one leads to success every day.

The real bottom line?
People come first:
When you invest in your people,
they give back so much more.
Here’s what they bring when they are put first:
✅ Resilience Under Pressure
✅ Support for Your Brand
✅ Increased Productivity
✅ Lasting Commitment
✅ Problem Solving
✅ Better Results
✅ Flexibility
✅ Loyalty
✅ New Ideas
✅ More Innovation
✅ Skills that Matter
✅ Higher Accountability
✅ Stronger Collaboration
✅ Better Decision-Making
✅ Stronger Customer Relationships
Markets shift, strategies change, and technology evolves.
But people who feel valued will
always show up and give more.
A workplace that values people
will never struggle to succeed.

It was so lovely to see our school community come together on Monday to celebrate our Christmas carol service. Attendees were treated to performances and readings from pupils and staff, as well as festive mince pies and mulled wine.
