#Education What momentum traders won't tell you.

During a strong uptrend, you'll usually see a series of clean higher highs and higher lows. Pullbacks stay relatively shallow, and buyers step in quickly.

When those swings suddenly become much larger, even if price is still making new highs, it's often an early sign that momentum is starting to weaken.

That doesn't automatically mean the trend is over.

It simply means the stock has become less efficient, and the odds of a period of consolidation, either through a deeper pullback or by moving sideways over time, have increased.

As a momentum trader, that's your cue to become more selective instead of assuming every dip will behave like the last one.

Pretty whippy action today but ends up closing pretty much unchanged on $SPY lol after a near 10 point range day.

Learned awhile back that the last 5 days of a quarter tend to be quite choppy and its good to trade less but also these ranges are great for scalping against key gamma levels or using SPX cash settled options.

$MU closes at a new all time closing high despite the big range intraday. Really try to focus on closing prices if swing or position trading otherwise you get whipped by algos
