Just so that you have the facts…

Yes — the “4 times faster” claim refers only to a single quarter (Q1 2026) and uses the standard annualized rate.
U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) data show California’s real GDP grew at a 3.7% annualized pace in the first quarter of 2026, while Texas grew at 0.9%. That is roughly four times faster for that one quarter. These are the more stable annual percentage changes:
• California
• 2024: +3.2%
• 2025: +2.5%
• Texas
• 2024: +3.9%
• 2025: +2.5%

@JonathanCohn But the top CA suppliers are Iraq and Brazil. That’s a long way to travel to deliver the oil and certainly not good for climate change. How do you square that?
