@Miss__McIntosh Think about something you’re passionate about or something that relates to your chosen SDG. Then do some research into local organisations who take volunteers, or perhaps community projects like a garden and organise opportunities for your students!
"Service learning affords students the opportunity to develop a greater sense of empathy" Fair & Delaplane (2015).
I have experience with service learning. A great tool I will consider making use of in my #educ4750 unit plan.
Have you tried service learning?

"...outdoor learning has the potential to stimulate
children’s interest in the environment" (Dolan, 2016)
Perfect ideas for providing synthesis between traditional KLA's and #SDG12.
They are also a great way to install a place-based pedagogy!
Would you try these?
#educ4750
@niamhformby How about personal projects for students to do at home? I remember an activity from primary school in which I measured and recorded the water usage of my household and tried to reduce it. Something similar to that perhaps 🤔
@earutherford01@JaydenGodwin99 @KHunter2001 That’s a fantastic idea Emily! I love that and I’m sure Stage 3 or even Stage 2 students would relish the opportunity. Good thinking!
@Libertycarrier8 I think these are excellent ways to integrate community-based pedagogy! I will have to consider them when I'm designing my unit! Thanks.
I looked at the image first @KHunter2001! Powerful indeed.
Australians waste 7.6M tonnes of food a year and, according to Foodbank's 2021 Hunger Report, up to 1.2M kids have gone hungry in the last year. #Foodbank help redirect surplus food. #Positive change

@Scott_Macey1 - Have students write persuasive texts to local members of government
- Challenge your class to calculate the cost of paper usage vs digital usage over a school year
- Invite NSW Rangers to tour a local area with your class and discuss the ecosystem
I could go on! Thanks Scott
"In order to integrate environmental education into lessons or activities, teachers need appropriate strategies to tackle the barriers".
The video below is a great example of how to overcome the challenges described by So & Chow (2019) on plastics education.
#SDG12#educ4750
This video clip would be a great resource for explaining the benefits of soft plastic recycling to kids. There are some local community links to be made here.

@Scott_Macey1 @KHunter2001 I agree. If we want to cut-back on our use of paper products, then going digital is a great idea. However, we also need to be conscious of of tech consumption. Otherwise we will go in circles. Critical thinking and careful planning is key.
WOW! Great insight @KHunter2001.
I love the resources from TechCollect: https://t.co/I53ypsMt4Z
I also love that they advocate for a Circular Economy in the consumption of electronics. A great concept that can also be applied to other industries.
