Once again for the newcomers: gender identity ideology does not come from feminism. It was not created suddenly by Judith Butler in the 90's.

It comes entirely from the convergence between sexology and psychiatry.
Gender ideology was pioneered by sexologists and especially men sympathetic to pedophilia.

Sex offender treatment programs spearheaded "gender-affirming care" via chemical castration for pedophiles. That chemical castration treatment is now promoted to minors as "puberty blockers". A pedophile's dream come true.

The idea that sex itself is a social construct dates back to the 1960s, and was promoted by John Money, who encouraged the use of pornography - even among children - to develop one's gender identity. John Money forced children to act out "copulation play" and photographed them, and advocated for sexual relationships between adult men and children.

Gender identity ideology is the philosophy of porn and BDSM. It is quite literally the belief that sexual roles determine one's sex, and it normalizes dangerous sexual pathologies by turning them into a protected "identity".

The commenters in this article are shortsightedly dismissing the need for a bill to define women and men in law. The word “distraction” got trotted out to describe it by Chris Bishop, because that and the old “more important things” are favourite terms of dismissal by politicians. It’s noteworthy that those terms are selectively used, though, as I don’t remember them being trotted out to describe the costly push to put ‘gender identity’ into the Human Rights Act. Can anyone else remember that?

The writer of the article didn’t appear to ask anyone who could give some good reasons why we need women and men defined in law for comment, apart from Jenny Marcroft, who was unavailable. Both Graeme Edgeler, a lawyer, and Nicola Grigg, the Minister for Women, thought a bill to define women and men in law wasn’t worthwhile, because those words were rarely used in legislation.

Although, Graeme Edgeler conceded that one exception could be within the Corrections Dept, because “At present, prisoners can apply to be placed in a prison which aligns with their gender identity (except for sexual offenders). Because the NZ First bill also covers secondary legislation, which includes rules and regulations, it could affect that policy.”

Is the shortsightedness by these "experts" deliberate? Are they all really that obtuse about how this bill, if passed, would protect women’s and girls’ rights? I can think of three ways just off the top of my head right now how it would do this, and I’m sure there are more –
1) It would prevent any future attempts for men who say they’re women to get defined in law as such. Don’t think this won’t be at least going through some of their minds already.
2) It may prevent the deceptive use of the word ‘woman’ by the public service, Councils, and organisations, where they use it in a manner that incorporates men who say they’re women. Of course, they will find ways to circumvent using the word ‘woman’, because gender idealogues are slippery like that, but at least they mightn’t be able to use the word ‘woman’ deceptively anymore.
3) In the event a future government decides to dust off the Law Commission’s recommendations to put ‘gender identity’ into the Human Rights Act, it might stymie that implementation. Seeing as only a biological female could lawfully be a woman, it can’t be written into law that a man can’t who claims a ‘gender identity’ as a woman is also a woman, can it?
