@ETHDagmawi The problem is Addis expanded into Oromo regions with inadequate farmer compensation under Ethiopia’s land policy. Addis generates 30–35% of national GDP. A small contribution to a new capital would barely affect it & serve as one form of reconciliation

Our capital is a diverse, multicultural city built and shaped by generations of Ethiopians from every background. Just like New York represents people from across America and the world, Addis Ababa should represent the diversity of Ethiopia.

No single ethnic group should claim exclusive ownership of a city that millions of Ethiopians call home. Every resident deserves equal rights, equal representation and a voice in the future of their city.

Addis Ababa should unite us, not divide us. It must remain a city for all Ethiopians; regardless of ethnicity, language or background.

We can respect Oromo history and identity, Amhara history and identity, Gurage history and identity, and every other Ethiopian community without turning our capital into the exclusive property of one group.

A truly democratic Ethiopia must be based on equal citizenship, coexistence and mutual respect.

Addis Ababa is our shared capital. It belongs to its residents and to Ethiopia; not exclusively to one ethnicity.
