As for blaming #UNRWA for the long-standing refugee crisis, they are a humanitarian agency, the inability to resolve this crisis is a political failure that primarily reflects Israel’s intransigent refusal to allow refugees to return in order to maintain a demographic majority.

#UNRWA was created by the General Assembly in 1949 and its mission has been re-approved every 3 years. UNRWA and everything it does is a reflection of a global mandate, withdrawal of US aid is another disinvestment from a global community. #Palestine #refugees

The US’s contribution has been one-fourth of #UNRWA’s annual budget ($364 million of a $1 billion). The US reduced that to $60 million in 2017 and is now reducing it to $0 indefinitely. This is actually peanuts in light of US military aid to Israel alone which is $4 billion/year
