@IbelWetz … things that can be done to deal with the plethora of arm injuries in pitchers today. I like these changes b/c they are not major overhauls of the game by any means, & in fact are even somewhat of a “throw back”
I will elaborate on them each below
1) Lower the mound…
2/
@TheRealNole91@bencb789@rayzorfold Yes- i’ve never understood this argument from a practical standpoint. If you believe you have a skilled edge, you are 100% losing EV by not being in the game against these soft players early in a tournament
Especially if all of the “good” players are late regging!
@kyleheinz123@AllenKessler I mean, floor shouldn’t need to be called to determine intent. Dealer can simply ask and clarify before next player makes any action
@JohnCoolTrivia@VandyonTigers I recall reading an exert about someone facing Johnson & saying the ball was a blur and they could barely see it. Just hear it
Well that’s about what happens at 90mph
They wouldn’t be surprised by “hearing it hissing” unless they were used to seeing 80’s where u can pick it up
@JohnCoolTrivia@VandyonTigers I mean, really hard to say how hard those guys were throwing. You say “95” and “100” confidently…
Historically Paige was likely a very hard thrower.
But with the game nowhere near how popular or big as it is today, very well could be that “90” was seen as very hard
@JohnCoolTrivia@VandyonTigers Well…kind of. The depth of guys throwing really hard was certainly nowhere near what it is today
He would’ve faced some hard throwers occasionally, but there’s no way swinging a 40oz bat or whatever, he’s hitting bombs against guys throwing in the low-mid 90s let alone near 100
@padspoker You say “take EV from you”… this doesn’t make sense to me, because if you are a skilled player, you want more time at the table against less skilled players
And then win the “better players” get to the table with their late reg, you should have a substantial amount more
@JohnCoolTrivia@VandyonTigers No one is arguing that the “hardest throwers” aren’t still the hardest throwers. But with how much the game has grown, plus training for velo, plus scouts/GMs selecting for velo… it makes perfect sense that the DEPTH of guys throwing 100+ is more than ever
@jonorlando I love when the government increases my taxes! I know they could make do with what they have & be more efficient, but when they just ask for more instead, who cares?! It’s a good thing!
@BallParkBuzz@riv2rp4ge@Rockies@avcoleham So to make your initial point you should’ve cited these numbers, not “career ERA” that’s actually better than the average ERA for pitchers who pitch half their games at Coors 😂
@6Steeler@barstoolsports That’s what I’m saying. “In slow motion,” lol. In regular speed you totally see how it gets fucked up. Happens once in a while. Body language miscommunication
@xlxJack7xlx@CyclonePower40@GTO_Diaper@WSOP No way- would be a great way for a dealer to collude with his buddy… buddy all in with KK vs AA and you “accidentally” flop 4 cards…
Just need to do it once and still keep your job, not seen as collusion, etc
That would be terrible if that were the ruling
@AIRHresearch@GTO_Diaper@WSOP No- I don’t think you can just return pots/all ins and redo it all. Surely that is not the proper ruling… as dealers could then collude with someone by “messing up the flop” like this if they see their buddy is all in with A9 vs AK…
@kwansfull@tombos21 Don’t really get the “game taken seriously” point
Like… we really think there are a significant enough number of people on verge of playing or not, & would see this & not want to play bc this kind of stuff can happen?
Even if there are SOME, the trade-off is totally worth it
@VanjaPoker So we’re putting them on top pair, & we miss a street of value by checking the turn?
Why not bet turn, get called, and bet river pretty sizable?
If they are “sticky” and a bit of a station we should get value
Rather than what check raising river? & maybe making same $ amount?
