@dunksdeux I don't think it is a problem books like this exist. I think it's a problem they are elevated beyond other types of literature by academic snob types. I do not read fiction for the same reason you read fiction, and I shouldn't get called a retard over and over for doing that.
@leopard_empress@grutti22@marwood_lennox I don't use the term speculative fiction, that is what stuck up academic types who are embarrassed about what they are writing call it.
@ManjaKoa Liberia was objectively a settler colonial state though in its foundation and I think it's kind of dangerous to act like it wasn't. That leads to bad political positions.
Jiang Qing (the wife of Mao Zedong), Zhang Chunqiao, Yao Wenyuan, and Wang Hongwen, better known as the "Gang of Four," were arrested Oct. 6, 1976 on orders of Hua Guofeng. Leaders of the Cultural Revolution, the arrest and vilification of the four marked its defeat. #OTD#China
@LodewijkNap@riickstxr The solution to this is destroying nature completely, and building a galaxy filled with life which never has to kill or consume each other, they are all just fed by nutrients harvested from planet excavations. This is the only way to end the eternal holocaust of nature.
@stolperson@proxyson@NoneSoVale But non individual solutions to veganism (an army that goes around shooting people who eat meat or abuse animals) are mentioned, you go from "I don't respect consumer choice movements" to "Veganism should just be a personal choice why are you forcing it on me😭".
@grutti22@marwood_lennox There is more to fiction than 40 year old divorced author self inserts whining about their life. The cult of the character (where characters expressing things is the only thing that really matters in a book) has led to a million worthless novels.
@Valkyriedownbad I don't think it should be on the DSM because I think the DSM is made up rubbish and I hate psychology. Being trans is an intersex condition.
@FourBeats26@marwood_lennox No, it's the complete opposite. Books set in the real world that are just about mundane boring things that have been written about a thousand times are the regressive conservative standard. They are worthless. Literary fiction is mostly rubbish.
@NKGBread@SylviasLibrary No, it's the opposite. Hope means dreaming that things will magically improve and things will sort themselves out for you, requiring no action. The rejection of hope, understanding that there is no metaphysical force that will sort things out for you, is required for action.
