When you are raising your children, NEVER tell them that you were bad at mathematics. You plant seeds in their brains that math is hard. As a math teacher, I believe that I can teach ANYONE to be successful in mathematics. They just have to BELIEVE that they can do it.

@HelpATeacher @teachergoals Mine was Mr. Hamilton, my 8th grade social science teacher and track coach. He believed in me. He used to stand with his cowboy boot in the sand pit and I had to jump to it. Later, I went to state as a long jumper. He taught me to believe in myself. That is what I remember.

Schools are now structured so that the majority of student misbehaviors essentially have ZERO consequences…and that’s horrible for schools overall…but especially for the students that are not misbehaving.
