@TroyMooney State: Here's a bunch of money to run your school.
State: Ok, you clearly aren't prioritizing basic functions, like making sure your backdoors can lock, so we're requiring that you do that.
Schools: Wow, all these unfunded mandates.
If we are serious about fixing the teacher pipeline, we need to ask why anyone that isn't far-left would subject themselves to the ideological hellhole that is university Schools of Education.
Great report. Education schools must be dismantled entirely to restore education’s true purpose. There is no viable path to internal reform; these institutions are built on premises antithetical to truth-seeking and intellectual rigor. Even the university leaders themselves know it!! Harvard President Lowell famously described his own school of education as “a kitten that ought to be drowned.”
With the 2025 PISA results showing a global decline in math and reading scores, an urgent question is how much of a role technology and technology oriented education played in this decline.
The PISA 2025 results are out today. Some quick insights.
- The major story is very significant global decline. The last PISA study was in 2022, and saw big declines in reading and maths scores from 2018. Obviously the pandemic played a part.
- But this 2025 round has seen further falls even from the 2022 lows!
Things haven't gone back to normal post-pandemic - they've got worse.
Every generation thinks the generation below is less smart - but this time they might be right!
@kevin_buckler@TPPF I don't think TPPF has done any research on presidents and provosts, but we have done extensive research on foreign contributions to IHE.
Education technology has proved inefficient in improving classroom instruction or student results.
Texas should prohibit the use of 1-to-1 devices through 6th grade and prohibit the use of 1-to-1 devices for whole-class instruction.
The 89th #txlege mandated that all students must take a personal financial literacy course.
The TX SBOE should reject materials including Critical Race Theory-adjacent curriculum and recommend curricula that teaches the principles of applied personal financial literacy instead.
@estherzelda0514 The problem is that even your 'consequentialist' framework is out of whack because the Progressive cannot stomach a single instance of 'injustice.' The resulting system is much worse for most people.
@neetu_arnold As no doubt many people have commented on, these analyses were done from afar and treated as irrefutable. In virtually none of these cases was any wrongdoing ever actually proved; the DOJ just put schools through the wringer until they settled.
Opponents of the new literature list are still confused about religion and culture.
The Bible is the single most important book ever written and is necessary to understand world history, philosophy, art, and culture, especially the history and culture of the United States.
"We do not have a teacher shortage crisis. We have a teaching profession reputation crisis."
Schools are struggling to find certified teachers and retain their current ones. The process of teaching the teachers must be addressed.
Your occasional reminder that "Bible-infused" is aimed only at discrediting Texas' curriculum. English is "Bible-infused" too: good samaritan, forbidden fruit, turn the other cheek, bite the dust, feet of clay, salt of the earth, fly in the ointment, et (many) al.
The Texas SBOE is finalizing a new reading list this week designed to strengthen literacy for Texas students.
But the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts is pushing to lower literature standards in favor of a weaker, ideologically driven reading list.
TEKS are up for revision this month but some can still be improved:
👉TEKS that use Social Studies methods to push a social justice agenda
👉TEKS that inaccurately report history out of political correctness
👉TEKS with overly broad or vague objectives
This morning, TPPF’s Senior Fellow Mandy Drogin is testifying before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government on the harmful impacts of Plyler v. Doe and its effects on America’s schools and students.
