@RyanBray80@realSonjaShaw Class size affects many things. I did my student teaching in a first grade class with 32 kids. The master teacher said she was quitting that year because of the work load. These students needed to be taught how to use the bathroom and how to speak English.
Fix #5: Stop treating teachers like they are the problem.
They are the ones in the room. They are also the ones being blamed for every decision made above them.

Thank you, @POTUS, for 500 historic days of leadership. Together, we are confronting chronic disease by putting prevention first. That is how we Make America Healthy Again. 🇺🇸
Sonoran Harris Hawks, Westchester County, NY, 1988. I flew “Peanut,” the little male on my shoulder, for 10 years before he was electrocuted on a power line. I hunted with the hen, “Kuucheen,” for 24 years. She laid eggs and produced chicks every summer, and today falconers all over the East Coast are still hunting with her progeny. #GetOutside #LiveRealLife
I've always loved Jordan Peterson. I'm at the point of returning to the beginning and listening again to all his podcasts. They are so valuable. Worth a second round!
like many others, i stayed away from Jordan Peterson around 2017 because I had heard bad things, that he was legitimizing bigotry/misogyny.
I then heard of his personal crisis, long medical stay, etc. that many sneered at, like he got his comeuppance
I feel bad about this, looking back. I should’ve said something.
Peterson diagnosed that a generation of young men felt bereft of meaning and opportunity. He was early to do so. He tried to help. Not always successfully and with controversy, sure, but I’ve never heard him accused of being insincere.
And the views for which he drew a lot of controversy are no longer so far out of the mainstream. You may not agree with all of them — but now that we have some breathing room from the most heated days of the woke era, nothing in scrolling through his Wikipedia page seems so unspeakable or outside the domain of debate.
But at the time, it was really severe. He got cancelled. And it kinda maybe turned him crazy. That was his sacrifice for nudging the Overton window. And millions of people sneered and laughed and wished him ill. And it bothers me that I didn’t express more empathy at the time.
@flowidealism My daughter started a "Great Books" tutorial in 7th grade. I was listening to a casual conversation she was having with a friend. "What did you write on the paper about the Peloponesian War?" Great conversation.

Teach kids how to fail and try again. Resilience is not built by removing every obstacle. It is built by hitting the wall and figuring out what comes next.
