Happy Eid!
Eid Al Adha reminds us that some of life’s greatest lessons are selflessness, gratitude, compassion, and caring deeply for one another.
Wishing a Eid Mubarak to all those observing.
It was an honor to be joined by all members of the NC House who are combat veterans to give the opening prayer to yesterday's session where we emphasized the importance of Memorial Day and paid tribute to those we have lost. #ncpol#MemorialDay
My heart is with the Muslim community in San Diego. Hate and violence against ANY people, no matter their faith or background, must always be condemned. We are all human beings deserving of safety, dignity, and peace.
Security guard Amin Abdullah warned the teachers at the San Diego mosque's school to lock the classroom doors. There were 200 children inside at the time, Imam Taha Hassane said.
“By doing this, he saved so many, many, many souls,” he said. https://t.co/1loTKYEOTk
🚨 OMG. Ossoff just delivered a masterclass on DISMANTLING Trump:
“Trump…said we can only fund war then released a $1.5 trillion budget for the Pentagon
…Because draft-dodging Donald loves sending other people's children to war.”
DAMN. 🔥
So when your power bill goes up, understand this:
It is not just Duke Energy.
It is a system where special interests and politicians
both shifted power away from people
and costs onto working families.
It is time to rein in Duke and put North Carolina families first. ⚡
Your power bill in North Carolina is going up again.
Duke Energy is pushing for up to an 18% rate increase.
That is after bills already rose about 22% since 2020.
For many families:
$30 or more every month just to keep the lights on by 2028. #ncpol

At the same time, the North Carolina General Assembly:
➡️ Took appointment power away from the Governor
➡️ Reshaped the Utilities Commission
➡️ Passed SB 382 limiting the Attorney General’s ability to fight for you
Less oversight. Less protection.

This week, President Trump posted an image of himself depicted as "Jesus" (peace be upon him.)
While that dominated headlines, I wanted to understand something more important:
What do President Trump’s policies coming out of Washington actually mean for people locally?
They told me right now, SNAP applications are being processed on time about 94 to 95 percent.
But because of federal cuts in the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill,’
it could take 22 percent longer to process cases.
Not because of failure.
Not because of fraud.
But because of choices.
The President chose to put our nation at war with Iran without clear objectives or an exit strategy. It’s costing taxpayers tens of billions of dollars and North Carolinians far too much at the pump. His recent threats to Iran are beyond the pale, repugnant, and un-American, and they risk dramatic escalation. I continue to pray for our troops and their families who sacrifice so much to keep us safe.
Human life isn’t rhetoric. It’s families, children, and futures, real people.
The @POTUS writing about killing people w/ indifference, that is not strength, it is a moral failure.
To those DC politicians who call themselves "pro life", this is your moment.
Stop this man.
Leadership isn’t about who can shout the loudest. It’s about service.
People want solutions, not division.
Public servants, not politicians.
And the meanness and bullying?
That ends the moment we choose to talk to each other, not tear each other down.
Thank you, @HealthierUnited
Wishing a Happy Easter to all who celebrate across North Carolina.
Today is a reminder that even after the darkest moments, renewal is possible, hope is real, and new beginnings are always within reach.
Wishing you peace, joy, and time with the people who matter most.
