A Wayzata community member and former school board member of 20 years shared her thoughts on school board elections, even vs. odd years, and how important it is to be an informed voter when it comes to Minnesota school board elections.
BREAKING⏰
SCOTUS rules in U.S. v. Skrmetti that Tennessee's ban on so called gender affirming care is constitutional and satisfies the lowest tier of judicial review. The Chief authors, and the 3 liberals join in dissent.
It's a good day for the rule of law!
@alphanews MPA-endorsed board members across the state are turning the page on the past several years of prioritizing ideological agendas over student achievement. Unity through putting students first. It’s time to heal our communities and help our kids.

Prior Lake-Savage school board rescinds ‘equity and inclusion’ resolution in contentious meeting
The resolution was passed in 2020 and addressed things like "implicit bias" and "anti-racism."
Tonight MPA-endorsed board members in Prior Lake voted 5-2 to sunset their unnecessary and ineffective equity resolution. It has been a source of division for the past 5 years and the majority of the district is ready to focus on achievement and unity! 🙌🏻
On Monday night, school board is expected to take action on their equity resolution, which has been in place for the last five years. https://t.co/GGfRPBdYoU
Administrative bloat is a problem for public schools.
But the real growth in non-teachers comes from support staff.
Public schools have added thousands of counselors, social workers, psychologists, teacher aides, etc. in the last couple of decades.
They’ve expanded their mission well beyond core academic subjects like math, science, and reading.
To contain costs and improve results, they need to get back to basics.
ICYMI, the Fifth Circuit recently ruled that the primary function of libraries to select books for its patrons is not a violation of the 1st amendment (or “book banning”).
Every voter in Minnesota needs to hear this. THIS is why Minnesota Parents Alliance exists. MPA endorses courageous leaders like Valentina because non-partisan candidates challenging the status quo need support to win.
Help us help them: https://t.co/vKWTCeQ7wC
Board member Valentina Eyres pushes back on the claims of non-partisanship, pointing to her direct experiences.
She references union-backed mailers, “This is a school board, I would like to remind, where a teacher union sent the brochure to housing.” She also points out how influential money is, “We ran on a smidge budget... we were sitting and calculating where we can put a sign because we didn’t have that many.” She contrasted this with the scale and reach of union-supported campaigns, arguing that such disparities erode fairness and skew the democratic process toward well-funded, ideologically aligned candidates.
Lastly, Valentina pointed out the extreme toll the election environment took on her, “I carried spray with me. This is how I was concerned for my own safety.” She also mentioned, “A lady whom I was supporting was served with very... I mean, I don't know, should I—it's not for public—in front of their own kids.”
There’s a stark contrast from running as a union backed candidate largely aligned with the status quo, and an individual trying to make positive change for school districts in a way that may not involve teachers unions.
We’re proud to join the @usedgov in celebrating June as Title IX month! 🏅⛹️♀️🏊🏻♀️
MN students deserve fairness and safety based on biological reality, not postmodern theory.
By prohibiting sex-based discrimination in federally funded programs, #TitleIX opened countless athletic & academic opportunities for women & girls across the country.
This month, we celebrate Title IX’s 53rd anniversary & will take more action to protect women’s hard-earned rights.
