Residents in Bushenyi district have asked the Members of the 11th Parliament to disregard the proposed 'Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026,' arguing that the bill is unfair and seeks to suffocate Ugandans. This was during a stakeholder dialogue on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill held in Ishaka town on Wednesday. The dialogue was organised by Western Ankole Civil Society Organisations Forum(WACSOF).

🚀 Laying the foundation for Year 2 of impact👇

Today, inception meetings were successfully held at sub-county level in Rwampara, Sheema and Bushenyi to introduce the #REALFathersUganda project to key stakeholders ahead of Year 2 implementation 🤝🌱

These engagements are bringing together local leaders, technical officers and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and build a shared understanding of the #REALFathersApproach to promoting responsible fatherhood and stronger family systems 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦📚

Stakeholders reflected on the importance of mentoring young fathers, addressing harmful norms and creating supportive environments where men actively participate in childcare, family wellbeing and positive parenting 💬💛

The meetings also provided space to highlight progress made so far since April-2025 and reaffirm the role of district and sub-county leadership in supporting mentorship structures, community dialogues and inclusive engagement as the program expands in Year 2 🌍✨

Strong partnerships at local level remain key to ensuring the program’s impact reaches families and communities where it matters most and it’s our priority.

But this is more than saving money: it’s about building community. When families come together to save, learn and support one another, trust grows, solidarity deepens, and a culture of shared responsibility is strengthened 🌍🤲✨

💡 What happens when learning doesn’t stop at one conversation?

Under the #REALFathers approach, mentorship goes beyond individual sessions. After one-on-one engagements, young fathers and their mentors gather again at parish level for group mentorship spaces 💬👨‍👧‍👦🌱

Here, no one is left behind. If a young father didn’t fully grasp a concept during his individual session, the group setting provides another opportunity to unpack it asking questions openly, sharing experiences and learning from fellow fathers 🤝📖✨

Facilitated by the Lead Mentor, these sessions deepen understanding of the session held during an individual session, strengthen motivation towards being better fathers and build brotherhood among men committed to becoming better fathers 💛

🚨Because when fathers learn together, they grow together and stronger fathers mean stronger homes for children to live🌍👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Strong mentorship doesn’t happen by chance, it’s nurtured every step of the way. 🌱✨

Our District Project Officers (DPOs) continue to conduct observation visits 👀, provide supportive supervision 🤝 and conduct timely follow ups with one-on-one reminders 📲 to ensure mentors stay active and consistent in their engagement with young fathers and their spouses.

When mentors are consistently supported, mentorship becomes more effective and young fathers receive the right information at the right time. 📘💬

This is how we’re continuing to strengthen families and build positive fatherhood in our communities. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️
