Residents in Bushenyi district have asked the Members of the 11th Parliament to disregard the proposed 'Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026,' arguing that the bill is unfair and seeks to suffocate Ugandans. This was during a stakeholder dialogue on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill held in Ishaka town on Wednesday. The dialogue was organised by Western Ankole Civil Society Organisations Forum(WACSOF).

Caroline Namara, civil society activist: " I request Rt. Hon. @Thomas_Tayebwa because he is our own and he can listen. The Protection of Sovereignty Bill is unfair to many players in development. It should be withdrawn and burnt immediately. "

"The people come first. If we are talking about sovereignty,it starts with the people - it doesn't start with the leaders/people who sit in cabinet/Internal affairs. Anything against the people is bad. This Sovereignty Bill is bad and we need to fight it with all our energies..."- @kakongea , @WACSOF

What if changing fatherhood could change Ugandaβs future? πΊπ¬β¨
What is REAL Father?
REAL stands for Responsible, Engaged, and Loving π¨βπ§βπ¦β€οΈ. It is a mentorship program empowering young fathers aged 18β25 years to lead the way in positive parenting, reduce violence at home and promote early childhood development through play π§Έπ¨.
Healthy homes start with healthy communication π‘π¬. By mentoring young fathers in conflict resolution, we see significant reductions in intimate partner violence and substance abuse, helping to build safer families for everyone π€ποΈ.
Who knew a simple homemade toy could change a life? πͺβ¨ Through mentoring fathers in the art of play and communication, we help build strong, unbreakable bonds between fathers and children from day one. Early learning truly starts with Dad πΆπΎπ.
Equality at home means prosperity for the family βοΈπ°. REAL Fathers mentorship supports joint decision-making and household planning, resulting in better livelihoods, increased savings, and stronger family projects π π.
In just a few days, stakeholders, mentors, and partners will gather in Kampala ππ€ for the REAL Fathers Convening. Follow our handle for live updates, stories of change, and the future roadmap for fatherhood in Uganda ππΊπ¬.

Why do evidence-based parenting programs matter?
Assistant Commisioner @Mglsd_UG , Lucy Otto highlighted that data-driven approaches are the key to effectively engaging men and fathers. "A special thank you to @UCSanDiego for the technical expertise." #REALFathersUganda
Learning grows stronger when no one is left behind π€β¨
As WACSOF, we truly value inclusion and inclusivity in all our work ππ Through the REAL Fathers approach, mentorship goes beyond one-on-one sessions into group learning spaces, where young fathers support one another, share experiences and deepen understanding together alongside their mentors π¬π¨βπ¦βπ¦
Even as the Learning Convening continues, mentorship sessions are actively happening on the ground, because positive change doesnβt pause π±π₯
We are proud to see inclusive mentorship in action, with mentors of diverse backgrounds and abilities leading transformation in their communities ππ€
