Several Kansas City-area civic and civil rights organizations have submitted a letter to the United States Department of Justice calling for the agency to expand its probe of the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.

@KCStar McDonald cited concerns over police using illegal chokeholds and a lack of accountability for officers.
She is hoping the DOJ puts a consent decree together that suggests oversight of KCPD should not be with the state.
She plans to go to DC and protest if DOJ does not answer.
Six leaders from metro area groups ranging from the Urban League to More2 are asking the DOJ to investigate the KCPD for "systemic constitutional violations" and the "targeting of Black motorists to achieve ticket quotas" according to a Friday letter.
