Strengthening uniformed women’s participation in UN peace operations fundamental to delivering effective and credible operations.

Last week, Mr. Robert Pulver, Chief of the PBPSO Justice and Corrections Service, joined an online discussion with more than 200 peacekeepers from across missions, convened by the Network for Uniformed Women Peacekeepers, together with leadership from the Office of Military Affairs and @UNPOL. The exchange provided a valuable platform to hear directly from uniformed women experts deployed to the field and reflect on how we can collectively advance women’s full, equal and meaningful participation.

Several priorities stood out clearly:

✅Operational effectiveness depends on diverse teams working together;

✅Women must have access to the full range of roles, including leadership and operational positions;

✅Gender parity must be embedded in workforce planning;

✅Both mission leadership and Member States have a critical role to play in enabling women’s participation across the system.

What resonated most was the importance of listening to field perspectives and translating them into concrete action. Initiatives such as the Network for Uniformed Women Peacekeepers remain essential.
