🇵🇭 At the High-Level Policy Dialogue of the Africa Dialogue Series 2026, Undersecretary for Policy Leo M. Herrera-Lim reaffirmed the Philippines’ support for the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and underscored the importance of water security, sanitation systems, and climate resilience in advancing sustainable and inclusive development.
He highlighted Philippine efforts to strengthen climate-resilient WASH systems, protect water infrastructure during situations of armed conflict, and promote South-South and triangular cooperation. As Chair of ASEAN, the Philippines also emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-regional dialogue and cooperation with the African Union on water governance, climate adaptation, and sustainable development.

Participated in the High-Level Forum on “Strengthening Water Action through South-South and Triangular Cooperation” in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
I stressed that water is central to the #2030Agenda and highlighted the importance of scaling up South-South and triangular cooperation, financing, technology transfer and locally driven solutions to advance #SDG6 and strengthen climate resilience.
The Fourth High-Level International Conference on the Water Action Decade concluded with adoption of the Dushanbe Declaration, calling for stronger global partnerships, including through #SouthSouth and #TriangularCooperation, to accelerate sustainable and inclusive water action.

On the margins of the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the Water Action Decade, H.E. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, had productive discussions with @UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib.
The meeting also explored opportunities to deepen collaboration between Tajikistan and @UNOSSC through trust funds, regional partnerships, and demand-driven South-South knowledge exchange, including in context of global discussions on water, climate and sustainable development.
At the “Water in the post-2030 agenda” panel in Dushanbe, @UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib stressed that rising climate pressures, rapid urbanization and widening development gaps demand a new approach to water cooperation. #SouthSouth & #TriangularCooperation are key.
@UN The Director highlighted that water challenges are linked to climate action, food security, cities and inclusive growth. Pointing to Tajikistan’s experience and Southern-led solutions, she stressed that the post-2030 agenda must move from commitments to connected implementation.
