The members of the 16th Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration received blessings from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama upon the completion of their tenure (26th May 2026).
Addressing them, His Holiness the Dalai Lama emphasised that Tibetans in exile have established a strong foundation for preserving Tibetan identity and have become a symbol of hope for many people concerned about Tibet.
In his translated remarks, His Holiness said:
“It has now been many years since we escaped from Tibet and arrived in India. Truly, we have become an emotional anchor for the Tibetan people. Furthermore, we also remain a source of hope for Chinese people who care about Tibet. By upholding ourselves in this way, we have established ourselves here as a centre for the Tibetan people, including Tibetan culture and religion. What we have established here is an efficient system for the custodianship of Tibetan religion and culture, and Chinese people also see it this way. This is excellent. Thank you.”
Congratulations to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and the Tibetan diaspora community on their elections, and to Penpa Tsering on his re-election as the CTA's Sikyong. The United States will continue to engage with democratically elected Tibetan leaders in support of Tibetans everywhere.
New legislation in the House would establish a framework for U.S. relations with the Tibetan people through their democratically-elected leadership for the time after the Dalai Lama dies. led by Reps. Jim McGovern and Mike McCaul.

The 11th Panchen Lama is an important leader in Tibetan Buddhism. At age six, he and his family were disappeared; 31 years later their location and status remain unknown. Beijing should immediately release him and allow Tibetans to choose their religious leaders.
Griffin: Fox has confirmed reporting from the FT that Iran used a Chinese spy satellite to target US bases in the Middle East last month. The IRGC obtained access to the Chinese satellite shortly after its launch and apparently tasked it with monitoring US military sites.
Today, we honor the 67th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising. In 1959, tens of thousands of Tibetans courageously stood against China’s unlawful occupation. The CCP responded with a violent crackdown that killed thousands.
The Chinese Communist Party continues its decades-long campaign to erase Tibet’s culture, language, and religion. We stand with the Tibetan people in calling for human rights and religious freedom.

Sixty-seven years ago today, the Tibetan people bravely rose up to defend their freedom, religion, and way of life. The Chinese Communist Party responded with a violent crackdown that forced thousands into exile. But to this day, Tibetans' commitment to peace and perseverance reminds us that even if the CCP takes away your land, they cannot crush your culture or your spirit.
Nearly seven decades since the 1959 uprising in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, the Chinese government still treats March 10 with vigilance.
World leaders should use this moment to challenge China’s enforced silence surrounding Tibet. https://t.co/VQUXtwN0RF
Today, we remember the courage of the Tibetan people who rose up in defense of their freedom, faith and culture in 1959.
In the decades since, America has proudly stood with Tibetans in their pursuit of human rights, dignity and the preservation of their identity.
Today 's 67th anniv of Tibetan National Uprising Day reminds us that Tibetans face growing Chinese government threats to their religious freedom and way of life. I'll continue to support the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people’s fight for freedom on their terms.
The U.S. is committed to supporting the unalienable human rights and aspirations of Tibetans to celebrate their unique culture, language, and religion without fear of interference. As U.S. Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, I was honored to host the State Department’s 2026 Losar Celebrations.
Wishing all those celebrating Losar, Tibetan New Year, a joyful start to the Year of the Fire Horse. May the new year bring health, peace, and prosperity to you and your loved ones ལོ་སར་བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས། https://t.co/zPEmcABR44
